International travel plans with all these politics going on

We plan to do international travel this summer. With the news of Venezuela today, talk about Mexico next with some countries prohibit free USA tourist visa, are there any countries that are guaranteed safe and not hostile to US for international travel this summer? I want to book plane tickets and hotels. Do you think Canada will be a safe choice? How about Asia?

Has Canada ever been hostile towards anyone?

Asia is good. They're far removed from Latin American problems and culturally aren't in-your-face criticizers.

If you book for Greenland, who knows, you might find yourself on US soil by the time summer rolls around

"Asia" is broad. OP should probably skip North Korea, and perhaps China and even Myanmar.

Well DUH. No, I was recommending the wilds of North Korea. Very bracing there. Pristine conditions and rustic accommodations, with nuclear silo underneath.

Have a big vacation to Europein a couple months and have mixed feelings on the trip. I haven’t been abroad in about two years. Not sure what the sentiment is toward Americans? I’m sure with everything Trump has done and said he’s going to do, and now Venezuela, I can’t imagine Americans being viewed favorably. Even though I didn’t vote for Trump and this madness, I feel dirty, I feel complicit.

I don’t really care about my vacation. I care more about our country and hopefully some of our elected leaders finally standing up to the bully.

Nobody cares about you personally as an American right now. If you met someone who is Saudi would you blame them for what MBS does? Probably not. We went outside the US this summer and everyone was very nice.

We are going to Hawaii this summer and should be fine. We also are planning on going to Spain and not changing any plans.

PP, here. You’re right, that personally nobody cares about me when I travel abroad. It doesn’t change the fact that I’m embarrassed and ashamed of my country. We were never perfect, but I always thought of us as one of the good guys.

Not if we try to make Canada the 51st state. I imagine Denmark is out for similar reasons.

Yeah I get it. All you can do of course is act kindly yourself and hope you make a small bit of difference. It's all weird, I met these 2 Irish women at a cafe in Paris in Sept 2016, they brought up the then-upcoming election, asked about Trump, etc (I didn't bring it up!). They had conflicting feelings because they were from western Ireland near his golf club there, which had just been redone and been a big source of new employment for friends and family in a pretty remote region.

Yes, Americans are pretty well received in America.

The problem is you. This is what you think. Meanwhile the world is filled with imperfect countries and dysfunctional politics. And I'm talking about western countries.

I was abroad twice in 2025 and lived overseas during 2016-2020 and people outside the US aren't going around hating American tourists. They have their own politics and political leaders they care more about (and usually despise).
