Reach/Target/Likely list - any thoughts?

Curious what people think about my unhooked junior son's list. We are looking to plan some spring break college visits so trying to refine the list a bit over winter break.

He's interested in applying to the business schools at these places, or perhaps political science/econ.

Weighted GPA 4.2, SAT 1490. Unweighted GPA is 3.97 (two Bs in freshman year, maybe a B in an IB class this year). IB Diploma candidate. Top GPA possible at our school is between a 4.4-4.5 because we don't offer a ton of AP classes and honors classes aren't weighted. Virginia resident, public school.

I'd love to know if there are other schools that should be on our list based on these schools. We especially need some more "likely" schools.

Reach:
University of Southern California Marshall School of Business
Georgetown
UVA
William & Mary
Wake Forest

Target:
University of Pittsburgh
University of Washington
Lehigh
Villanova
Loyola Marymount (in LA)

Likely:
JMU
CNU
University of Delaware (?)

Also look at:

Indiana Kelly (target based on his stats)
South Carolina, especially honors and international business (also target)
VT

You don’t need that many likelies, with his stats he will probably get into JMU and CNU.

Are you full pay?

For a better shot at the reaches, get his SAT over 1500, and more like 1550, especially math. Take the June or August SAT.

Also consider Loyola Maryland and its Sellinger scholars program. (For a likely)

For your son's academic interests, consider the University of Richmond.

Villanova is a reach for business.

Suggest the following low targets:
TCU
Fordham

For safeties, your in-state publics.

There are already in state public's on the list. Some are safeties, but some are a reach. Learn to read and also understand that publics does not automatically mean easy

I would add Fordham as a target. The Rose Hill campus is gorgeous, the Lincoln Center campus is right in the heart of things, and although it's not the right fit for my dc, we left the tour thinking that if they were stronger in what he wants to study it would be a no-brainer. For a true safety, Loyola Maryland is a shoo-in and gives merit, and the University of Mary Washington (in state for you). He'd be in the honors cohort and could really shine there.

I think this is a good list. Agree you don’t need more likelies - my DC with similar stats this year got into Pitt and LMU. Apply early to both.

If he wants USC Marshall they just implemented ED for the school. Do that if it’s a top choice.

Sorry, but this kid won’t get into Marshall or Georgetown. ED to UVA and ED2 to Wm and Mary and should be fine.

Definitely check out Kelly at Indiana. Great business school.

Business is the most popular major everywhere now, so the admit rates are going to be way lower than the overall admit rates for the college. I would add a few more schools like UGA, South Carolina, and Clemson. Maybe Fairfield since you like Catholic schools.

Could also consider a very early, rolling Wake ED app. I think you would find out before having to commit ED to UVA or Wm and Mary. Definitely EA to Kelly.

ED to Uva is a reach.

Have VTech and GMU on your list.
