I would appreciate any insights on your electric car or a hybrid car.
What is it? How long have you had it? What do you like about it? What don't you like about it? And how much did you purchase it for. |

I have a RAV4 plug-in hybrid.
It is great. Love it. I plug it into an ordinary outlet in my garage, and it's charged when I get up in the morning. It only goes 40 miles on electric power, but I don't have a long commute, so it's fine for me. For longer trips, it's a regular hybrid. Gets about 40 MPG. It's very powerful -- the electric engine makes the car heavier and it is very zippy. Must peppier than my old Hyundai. It's not cheap. You pay about $10k more for the plug in hybrid model, but it's worth it IMHO. |
| Regular hybrid crv for 5 years, hybrid rav4 two years. Both great. Over 40 mpg average. If you don’t pay attention, you won’t know that it’s a hybrid when you’re driving. |
What kind of electricity usage is this? Is it a massive amount? Or is it like having left a light on? |
| I drive a Tesla Model S Plaid. It’s an amazing vehicle but they don’t tell you how fast you can go through tires showing friends and family how insanely fast it is. |
| We have a Kia EV6 Wind. Paid somewhere in the ballpark of $50k for it a couple years ago. Very comfortable and quiet to drive, good cargo space, accelerates nicely. Also love how it looks. No real complaints. |
| We have a Volvo EX90 that we bought in June that we are happy with. But it was bad timing in that gasoline prices have remained stable or dropped this year, while electricity prices have gone through the roof! |
Why did you get rid of the RAV4 if it was great |
Is it the RAV4 prime |
Dp who also loves my rav4 plug in. It’s like an appliance. It’s a battery so it stops pulling volts once it’s full. |
We own both of them. Our third car is gas-only. |

I have an EV— a 2023 Nissan Ariya. Love it. A good car generallly, and gets very good range on a charge. Charging is convenient at home, and getting easier every day on the road.
Things I don’t like: Car Play cuts out frequently, which is very annoying. |
| Volvo XC90 hybrid. We get about 30 miles electric and we charge from home. If you want to use all electric it would be frequent charging but the nice thing is, it just switches over to gas, so even if we don’t get to charge it, it’s no big deal. We definitely save money on gas. |

We have a Rivian R1S (the SUV). We've had it for a little over two years and absolutely love it. I get stopped all the time in parking lots and even at red lights with people asking me about it. It's fully electric, it's big (slightly smaller than a Suburban), it drives like a dream, they do updates and will make changes when you suggest them, they come to you to service it, and it charges at our home at night when energy prices are much lower for far, far less than we'd pay in gas.
The EV charging network has exploded in recent years and we take it all over the place and I've only had one issue with a charging station (EV GO) that I couldn't get to work (I needed to update our credit card and the app wouldn't let me). Otherwise we have never had a problem finding somewhere to charge it and the price for doing so at a charging station is approximately the same as a tank full of gas for our non-EV SUV. Honestly I can't think of anything I don't like about it. It's technically my husband's car but it's the one we use 99% of the time (we both work from home so there is no commute). I have a gas SUV but we have an R2S reserved and we're debating whether we want two of them or want to keep one gas, one EV. Not sure yet but I absolutely love driving the Rivian and would be happy to have a second one. As for what we paid for it, it was around $75K when we got it and then the price shot up. We have the quad motor with some other features that I don't think are still available so it's the top of the line version. |

We had a Rav4 Hybrid for 3 yrs in California, it was great as far as cars go. The only bad thing was the front seats gave everyone backspin.
We now have a 100% electric Mercedes. It sucks. You have to leave it 10 hours to charge fully and there are fewer charging points than ever. |
