Are you going to the dentist every 6 months?
Seeing your PCP at least once a year?
Pap smears every 3-5 years ?
Mammograms every year (if 40 +)
Colonoscopies starting at 45
Exercising at least 75 (intensive) - 150 mins (less intensive) a week ?

All these are health maintenance things we should be doing.

If you are doing all of these things, what job do you do? How many kids do you have?

Hah!
I’m pretty good about the dentist because they are so quick and they schedule as I’m leavings. I love them.

I’m 53 and haven’t ever done a colosxope. I did cologuaes a few years ago and keep meaning to get to it.

I’ve had 3 manmograms done and am almost a year overdue now. I really hate them. For whatever reason. I always need to go back for the intensive view and then have breast pain for months after. Really hate them.

I was trying to get in to see someone annually but honestly it’s been like 3 times in 5 years. Am overdue now so am trying to remember to schedule an appointment.

I am seeing gyn pretty much annual now.

I don’t ever work out but average about 2-3 miles a day walking.

Yes to the first 4. I'm a little late on the colonoscopy, turned 45 a year ago and haven't quite gotten around to it yet.

I was on a pretty good exercise routine, but this fall has been hard to keep up. I need to recommit to it.

One teen left at home, one in college. Job is out of the home 5x/week, typically takes a standard 40-hour week plus commuting, but has occasionally late evenings or travel. Volunteer stuff for kids activities takes 1-3 evenings per week.

Yes- dentist, pcp, mammo, Pap smear
No- regular exercise. More in summer with gardening etc. way less in winter.
2 kids, WOH for me and DH. He makes a priority to work out and gets up at 4:30am daily. I just can't and prioritize sleep.

I stay home, kids are in high school and college.

Are you going to the dentist every 6 months? No, every year at most. I floss daily. Probably not enough, dental care, right?
Seeing your PCP at least once a year? I have to, I have several chronic diseases. i get bloodwork at least 4 times a year.
Pap smears every 3-5 years ? Yes.
Mammograms every year (if 40 +) Yes, I have a serious family history of breast cancer.
Colonoscopies starting at 45 No, I didn't know it started at 45 and no one suggested I get one at that age. I thought it was 50?
Exercising at least 75 (intensive) - 150 mins (less intensive) a week ? Yes, but still not enough. I should do yoga, weight lifting, more cardio. Will I do it? No.

Eat clean. I should do more of that too.
I don't drink, I don't smoke, I try to prioritize my sleep, but I suffer from anxiety and insomnia.

I don't exercise anymore since RTO - gotta commute during the time I used to work out. Otherwise, I do everything on the list except see my PCP if I don't have to. Mine doesn't think annual checkups are necessary and I agree.

Lawyer, 1 kid.

This is a nice list for someone who has no actual health problems.

For those of us with existing chronic health issues, getting a colonoscopy or a Pap smear is not high on the list because we already have to dedicate a lot of our bandwidth to managing health issues, and I'm sorry but I cannot dedicate effort to finding a specialist and scheduling appointments for a preventative procedure for a medical issue I don't even have any symptoms for. I get why it makes sense to do it, but I've already had surgery twice in the last 5 years. I don't want to have to go under general anesthesia again for a colonoscopy. I want people to leave my body the eff alone.

Also, admittedly, part of me is scared that some of those tests would come back positive and I'd have to deal with another thing.

I do make sure to go to the dentist regularly and I exercise religiously when I can physically do so.

Seeing your PCP at least once a year? Yes for blood work and routine checkup.
Pap smears every 3-5 years ? Annual pelvic exam and pap when needed
Mammograms every year (if 40 +) I stretch to 18 months vs 12, but stay on schedule.
Colonoscopies starting at 45. Yes. Told to return in 10 years.
Exercising at least 75 (intensive) - 150 mins (less intensive) a week ? Yes. Had to RTO so I now use my break time to climb stairs or a brisk walk at the end of the day. No time when I get home.

All these are health maintenance things we should be doing.

If you are doing all of these things, what job do you do? How many kids do you have? Project management. Three kids and I am the primary parent.

I schedule everything at the beginning of the year and take sick leave for the appointments.
