| Time to discuss spring season and what’s next? Will there be a new club added to GA? How will changes to team requirements impact the league? |
need to reverse this. Which clubs are exploring MLSNEXT. That have ECNL. GA isnt going to offer out non ECNL clubs. |
MLS Next drives the bus… |
OP: Good point and true. MLSNEXT WILL DRIVE what clubs add GA. How will MLSNext evolve this year from last to impact the local soccer scene? |
They will accept Arlington for next year and that will be a huge impact to the local scene. |
| For an individual player, what are the rules around playing for a current Spring GA team and wanting to tryout for a Fall season GA team? |
| Don't believe Arlington will give up ecnl |
Them and VDA are nicely positioned with ECNL as the only NOVA clubs to be in that league. What you neglect to understand, either by ignorance or deliberately, is that if they can put their clubs inside MLS Next (not the fake tier 2) they will undoubtedly do so. You can complain all you want and pull the sexism card and any other victim mentality excuse. The reality is that boys/men’s soccer is on the driver seat and girl/womens is not. Additionally, haven’t you seen GA taking form nicely in only 2.5 years of existence? ECNL is in for a rude awakening and their ownership back in FL will eventually pound sand. |
When tryouts happen, you can try out anywhere you want. |
Many GA clubs hold tryouts on the exact same nights. So, you are free to tryout where you best feel suited, but you still may have to choose which club you tryout for when the tryouts are on the same dates. Also, if you are on1 GA club and you make another GA club. Cannot start guest playing for them until after the GA season is officially over. You could practice with your new team and scrimmage with them, but you can compete with them in the Spring/ early summer. I don't think you can even switch clubs if you wanted to until the season is over. |
| *cannot compete with them* |
Clubs hold cattle call tryouts on the same nights to make it difficult for players to check out different clubs. If the tryouts are over multiple days clubs will take attendance to get a feel for which players are trying out at other clubs. At least this is how it works for youngers top teams. You can get around all the nonsense by just reaching out to the coach directly and asking if your kid can practice with their team. Another trick is to ask the coach if they do private training. They always do. Pay the troll toll and you can leverage that into a roster spot. |
Word is most of the NC based GA teams very unhappy. Conference to big, quality of teams very low, six hour drives to beat TSJ and NVA/Loudon by double digit scores. Know of several that have put their applications in for ECNL. |
| STJ is moving to aspire. You heard it here first. |
| The entire mid Atlantic south is terrible. It’s not competition. I don’t blame any nc team for complaining. As someone else mentioned, this really has more to do with boys side than girls. How competitive is mls for the nc boys? |
