Is this out of line? Leaf blowing at 7:20 am?

Anonymous
I woke up this morning at 7:20 to what sounded like an airplane hovering above my house. Turns out it was my neighbor’s leaf blower guy. This person lives across the street and over one house, to give you a sense of how loud it was that it actually woke me up in my own house over a white noise machine.

Would it be out of line if I asked them nicely if they could talk to him about it and have them come at a later hour in the future? I don’t want to turn this into something, it was just so disruptive.

Before 7, out of line. After 7, fine. And what you’re saying is that you want your neighbor to have his leaf guy disrupt someone else?

Good news is that leaf season is almost over.

You can check on your neighborhood noise ordinance rules. In my area, it’s allowed after 7 am. I probably wouldn’t say anything since probably not much more leaf blowing over next few months.

What is saying something to him going to accomplish? I’m sure the leaf blowing will start and end today until next year. Be thankful it isn’t a weekend.

Yeah 7 is acceptable on weekdays. Weekends, no.

Garbage truck pick up trash today at 6:04am today. Backing up beeping, slamming cans, roaring the engine. No one gives a S about anyone anymore.

On my street, it's usually 5:05am.

Do you get to sleep til 8 or 9 the other four days, OP? Be grateful for that. Really.

Your privilege is showing.
I would never complain about people who start working in the wee hours of the morning to ride precariously on the back of a smelly truck to haul away my garbage. Losing 5 minutes of sleep once a week is totally worth it.

+1

OP, check your county’s noise ordinance laws and anything within those times is acceptable and I’m fairly certain that it’s 7 AM and most of our area if not all of our area.

If it’s every week at that time, I would under stand being irritated but in our neighborhood, the final leaf truck comes by to collect leaves this week so people are trying to do the last big grouping of leaves before winter. I would give him some grace. You sound quite dramatic – plane hovering overhead? It’s a freaking leaf blower. You live in a neighborhood. Do you never make any noise?

Why are you asleep at 7:20 AM? Do you work night shifts?

+1 What do you do that you're not up by this time anyway?

Every Monday morning, holiday or not, my next door neighbor's yard service comes by at 7am: leaf blowers, weed whackers, mowers all going. Every Monday.

Early for a declaration of war, but here we are.
