Private & Independent Schools
We were told that they will Make an announcement tomorrow to let everyone know if the school will continue or close. Everyone is on eggshells right now. |
| It is truly despicable how Whittle management is handling this... |

| Any updates....former parent wants to know. |
There was an all staff meeting before school started, and apparently there wasn't any useful information. |
Didn't Whittle indicate that funding would be secured by mid January? Only to then tell everyone last Sunday that the lead investor had withdrawn? |

My favorite part of this is how Chris Whittle is portraying himself as the tireless champion of this school, who just keeps getting bad news from other people. He tries so hard to make it work, but its the other people, the investors, and creditors, that just don't believe. This school will collapse, and he will be out there role playing as the #1 victim. Watch for it.

| Wait, I guess the IB Accreditation didn't save them? |
| The school doesn't have money to pay the food service vendor. Lawsuits keep piling up including a few more filed this week. The investor they claimed was secure and going to save the day pulled out. What more will it take for management to come clean with parents, faculty and staff? |
Has the feel of an abuse situation. He started out love-bombing everybody. Then things deteriorated ....and what's left is months of ominous secrets and silences, veiled threats, cryptic remarks, hopes abruptly raised and dashed over and over again, blame cast on everybody but the man at the center, people walking on eggshells tormented about whether to go or stay. Whittle sure creates a helluva lot of unnecessary drama. Unfair and cruel to everybody else concerned. |
| How much longer is this going to drag on?! Do families have alternative back-up plans? Can’t imagine the stress from continued uncertainty! |
| I wonder who pays for electric and heat? I wonder if because there is boarding, the whole thing is considered to be "residential"? And same for eviction - landlord can't just lock them out if they don't pay rent, seeing as people actually live there at the moment. |
The parents are like cult followers. My child got in to another school and will be staring in a few weeks. More spots are opening up and I asked folks to apply. They were horrified that I would even suggest that. Granted this was before the investor pulled out. They were so sure that a savior was coming into save us. They have now started a parent investor committee. The parents themselves are trying to recruit investors. |

This is starting to sound more and more like a multi level marketing scheme... An amazing irony to the initial promise that the for-profit model was going to do away with the need for fundraising! And it really seems like no one has a grip on the enormity of the issue. The $30 million plus in judgments are not going away. This is not about seeking investors but rather finding suckers to keep the merry go round going for a little longer before it comes crashing down..
Congratulations on your escape. And at least you tried to warn the remaining parents. Nothing more to be said and done for the truly rabid believers at this point. Sad that they cannot see that they are actually negatively impacting their children. But then, Warren Jeffs' most ardent supporters happily let him do far worse to their children... |
