Yep.Conservatives need to understand that entering illegally without proper vetting and being allowed to reside here ⁶should be a quick process, while leaving should be a slow process with legal constraints and maneuverings.

First, this is going to take years to construct, and will line government contractors pockets with the overhead. Second, US citizens will be responsible for housing, food and transportation costs during the time period for adjudication. It seems like this set up is aimed to further privatize the deportation process at an enormous expense to American taxpayers.

Why is this more viable than having immigrants work while awaiting adjudication? Increase tracking capabilities and require employers of immigrants to maintain information on them. It will cost a fraction of the money used to construct and maintain these facilities.

Well, once they turn us into soap and sell our fillings, that might offset some of the costs.

I've been wondering why Trump hasn't targeted the El Salvadoreans on Temporary Protected Status (TPS) yet. Approximately 180,000 have TPS, some dating back to 2001 when there was a devastating earthquake in El Salvador. He's targeted Venezuelans and Haitians on TPS--and has threatened to remove the status from Ukrainians as well--but no word yet on El Salvadoreans. Then it occurred to me it's probably because he's tight with their president, Bukele, who no doubt doesn't want to miss out on the remittances from Salvadoreans in the US because they make up almost a quarter of the country's GDP.
