The WaPo would immediately tell the public that Trump contacted them trying to get them to plant a false story.

This is the chain of events:

1) raid - Trump’s lawyers say that they had to fight to be shown a warrant, and when they were, were not allowed to keep it
2) insistence that lawyers leave and that all cameras be turned off. We learn later that the cameras in MAL were indeed rolling and Trump and his lawyers watched the raid themselves as it was ongoing.
3) nine hours inside, despite having been in before and given free reign, to the point where improvements were suggested.
4) No statement from Garland day of or next day
5) Judge who signed off on warrant associated with Epstein and recused himself from another Trump case due to internal bias
6) JW files to have warrant and affidavit released and public and media outrage ensues about raid and President’s right to declassify
7) Simulaneous statements by media that warrant information is super secret and can’t be released without major redactions
8) Garland finally comes forward with statement admitting it was his decision to go into MAL.
9) Media and Democrats claim Trump can release warrant and won’t, because he has nuclear weapons documents in his possession, which, are the only type he can’t declassify. They will not be able to prove this to the America people because it’s all super secret, so super secret that it was leaked to press.
10) Trump states publicly last night that he doesn’t care one whit if the warrant and affidavit is released, and that they should be released.

Their ball.

If Trump is ok with releasing the warrant, then why hasn’t he?

Because the affidavit is what’s important. And the DOJ were the ones to initiate a raid on a former President’s home so they are the ones that must justify their actions to the American people.

^^^ Case in point. The MAGAs want to see sources and methods. Because they can’t stop obstructing.

Obstructing is not allowing the American people to see sources and methods.

In the upside down, yes. But here in the real world, protecting sources and methods keeps people safe, and helps us catch bad guys.

To those who just don't get it, let me put it all together for you:

From the very beginning Trump could have released the warrant. The DOJ couldn't legally do so but Trump could. He didn't.
Ditto for the list of items afterwards.
Because Trump went very public with this, and because he and his supporters create conspiracy theories around everything, the DOJ themselves moved to unseal both.
The judge said that because Trump's lawyers hadn't been given notice of the move to unseal, he gave them until 3pm today to appeal this.
Trump has now said that he won't appeal. Again, he could just go ahead and release it all himself but hasn't.
Now we wait for the DOJ to do so, which I assume will be after 3pm.

Why is it his responsibility to do so and not the DOJs? They should be accountable to the American people after raiding the home of a former President.

Because he is the one crying foul. Put up or shut up.

Guilty until proven innocent. Interesting.

He’s pretty much admitted a dozen or more crimes. He’s never been innocent a day in his life.

His cognitively-challenged followers complain no matter what. If normal legal procedures are used, they think it's unfair. If he obstructs justice aggressively and is protected by morally bankrupt Republican politicians such that he cannot be indicted, they think it proves he's innocent. And if ever he really is charged and sentenced, they'll think he's a martyr and the end of the world is nigh, and probably try to kill law enforcement and Democrat representatives, just as some deranged individuals did on Jan 6th and August 11th.

Trump is responsible for the deaths of his own supporters and well as officers of the law.

Yet despite the mounting death toll, never will his supporters realize that they died for a grifter. Dying for your country is one thing. But dying for Trump?!?!?! Who doesn't care one little bit about anyone but himself?

Sad.

Oh, everyone gets it. There is a troll on here who just loves to rile people up. Maybe there's also a Trump lover. But the troll is the most active.

This is such a galactically stupid post. So much so that I imagine it'll be worked into this weekend's talking points.

It's already been out there. I saw it on Facebook on Wednesday.
His failure to digitize the documents is not illegal because he had all of the right permissions to take them.

Yes, and the best thing to do is just point and laugh at the troll.

There is NO scenario where a president or former president, had the legal authority or right, to declassify these particularly documents.

None.

In some documents the information may not appear to be that important but the details of how we got the information, the who, what, where, and how we got it and confirmed it, is much more sensitive.

That’s what Trump did with the Russians in the White House. He revealed enough about how we knew something for them to figure out who our source was.

Well so are his voters, so prosecuting him won’t make a damn bit of difference to them. But, if he’s convicted of mishandling classified information, he won’t be able to hold office again. So there’s that.

Short term goals.

Something you should realize is that it won’t matter. I think Democrats think if they stop Trump from running, it stops everything. They will have to arrest DeSantis next, as well as every other Republican that believes in American strength and the rule of law. And please don’t tell me that the same people who won’t even enforce the border believe in the rule of law.

There will have to be mass threats, arrests and incarcerations. I guess if the DOJ wants to go there, they can.

They should arrest every last one of those traitorous criminals until nobody thinks that they can get away with this crap any more.

Keep going. I’d like to hear more about this in detail

I want every opportunistic grifter that wants to deceitfully enrich themselves off of the suffering of the lower classes and the planet to be convicted of their crimes so that in the future people think twice before trying this fraudulent crap ever again.

Kendall had the requisite security clearance. But you really don’t care about facts or a good faith argument.

Riddle me this... why did Merrick Garland approve this search warrant but not for the Unibomber?

When was anything Donald's responsibility? Even his kids were not his responsibility until they were 18. Responsibility always goes with someone who can be deemed responsible. I wonder why you keep supporting an ahole who has no responsibility ever!

i don't see what the big deal is. Even if Trump gave or sold nuclear documents to the Russians, it's not like they could use them. The documents are in English, right? Could the Russian even read them? I mean, seriously people.
