The door had been propped open and the teacher did not verify the door had closed automatically. That teacher is at fault. The only statement in June is from her lawyer.

This is horrifying and unspeakable and I don't really know how Uvalde is holding together. I also honestly don't know how these officers are living with themselves. I mean that in an actual sense. I could not live with having done this.

So basically an hour plus of cops standing around doing nothing. Just unbelievable given what they knew was happening inside the classroom where the gunman was. Every single one of them needs to get their ass fired and they need to be shunned by the community. And to lose their pension.

Children screaming, and no response. I just don’t understand what adult could just…hear those screams and yet let those children suffer. Especially anyone who is a parent themselves.
The level of cowardice here is nauseating. I have two little girls, and the thought that something like this could happen at their school or daycare, and cops would both fail to intervene while also preventing parents from going in just breaks my heart.
I can’t imagine how these parents could ever get past the complete betrayal of these officers that just further magnifies the loss of their children, followed by such a disgusting coverup. And I can’t fathom how these cops can live with themselves.

I really don’t normally condone violence but I hope any jury would acquit any family member who killed one of these cops out of blind rage at this point. Or how these cops haven’t committed suicide. I mean that in all sincerity- how are their families okay with their behavior? This is absolutely disgusting, selfish, soulless behavior. They stood in a hallway and listened to screaming children. They are less than dogsh*t.

It is one thing to read the reports and know they did nothing, but to actually see it....I don't even have words. Those first officers in the building knew he was still shooting. They did nothing. Children were bleeding to death and still in danger and they did NOTHING. This is inexcusable. Those poor families.

+1. Also, if cops are so afraid of these weapons, shouldn’t they be more pro - gun control? Every LEO I know personally is vehemently pro-2nd amendment, they think any gun control measures would lead to them losing their guns too….

So you’re telling me that the “good guys with guns” are incapable of handling the situation? Can we now put to rest the myth of a school shooter being stopped by a “good guy with a gun”? Clearly this is a fantasy of cosplaying tough guy gun owners across America.

Oh and also if trained police officers could find a solution, why do we expect teachers to? Teachers are trained to take down a shooter cops are, and failed.
