| Are there more/different teams invited this year or is the meet just bigger?! I guess I am not sure about all age groups, but looking at boys 13-14 his current times would have placed in the top 16 in most events last year, but this year not a chance of making finals, he is ranked much lower! Should be fun to see a lot of fast swimming, but I’m shocked at the depth compared to last year. |
| NOVAs top 13 and over swimmers are coming this year and that is an influx of super fast swimmers. It’s definitely harder to final this year than in years past in the 13-14 and Open events. Most 13-14 events will require a sectional cut to make the A final. That is incredibly fast. |
Some A finals will be Futures and above. My swimmer is .5 from a jr nationals cut and it’s iffy if they will make A finals in the event. |
| If your swimmer expects to final but finishes outside the top 16 - just consider reclassing to swim an extra year at the meet |
| LIAC has the majority of top seeds on the open women’s races. I wonder if NCap can actually win the meet this year |
For some events, even B final will be futures. 16th in 500 free for open girls is 2 seconds under the futures cut. |
| Don't worry, someone will jump on here and compare Winter Classic to being just as fast as KLI. |
Winter Classic is not as fast, but serves the same purpose as KLI for teams who attend it. There is fast competition at the A final, but it is not as deep in the outside lanes of A or the B final. No C final there. Frankly, I'm glad for that -- my kid got six finals there and might get half that at KLI. I'm glad they got the racing experience. |
+1, Could have written this. We have had kids swim at both and the benefit of WC is that it gives chances for fast, but not KLI A-final level swimmers, to swim so many finals. |
| Nobody says winter classic is as ‘fast’ as kli. It’s when people try to say that winter classic is the equivalent of turkey clause or swim and rock that the statements get challenged. Winter classic, kli and Riley Eaton are the championship winter meets in pvs. |
|
no one compares KLI and Winter classic except the same NCAP parents that think they are so superior because their kids swim NCAP.
It is so tiring. We all know you all are better than us. I hope all your smugness serves you well when your kid is out of HS. What will you focus on then? Jimmy or Janie swimming at No name University? |
They are not championship meets; they are mid-season meets. Please use the correct terms. Secondly, KLI and Eaton are solid meets with some fast swimmers (in addition to the NCAP's meet namesake), but are not overall that fast. This same weekend is Winter Jrs. This is a fast meet. This is a competitive meet. At least ASA sent some folks to duke it out. |
PVS only hosts FOUR championship meets: SC 14&U Championships SC Open Championships LC Ago Group Championships LC Senior Championships Everything else is just invitationals. |
Turkey Clause is also a Championship meet for PVS. It is an opportunity for swimmers that can't make KLI that year. |
Eating popcorn here. Who's going to have the last word? Keep it going DCUM swim community!
