What an amazing four year run.
2022: Enters FBS from FCS. Wins the Sun Belt East in year one, but transition rules keep them out of the Sun Belt Championship game and a bowl game. 2023: Hosts College Game Day again. Ranked in the Top 25. Won the Sun Belt East for the second year in a row. FBS transition rules keep them out of the Sun Belt Championship game again. JMU heads to its first bowl game despite the transition rules. Cignetti leaves for Indiana, Chesney enters as the new head coach. 2024: Rebuilding year with Chesney. Second bowl appearance. First bowl win. 2025: 12-1, 11 game win streak, undefeated in the Sun Belt. Ranked in the Top 25. NCAA rankings: #2 Total Defense; #2 Rushing Defense; #6 First Down Defense; #18 Team Sacks; Wayne Knight #3 All Purpose; Wayne Knight #7 Rush Yards Per Carry. First Sun Belt Championship. Chesney resigns to coach UCLA but agrees to coach out the year, Napier will enter as the new head coach. Now they make the College Football Playoff. Is this the greatest transition ever from FCS to FBS? |

| James Madison is Virginia’s “everything school.” Take a look at the thread here about the schools that do the best job onboarding freshman. There are very few things JMU isn’t good at. I’m happy they made the College Football Playoff, but I’m realistic about their chances. I don’t expect to see them go far. Winning that first game would be huge. Hopefully they represent the state well. |

Great for JMU. But it demonstrates the weakness of the current system. James Madison is for sure not better than Alabama, Notre Dame, Miami, or Vanderbilt.
JMU will get blown out when they play Indiana or whoever they face. And where is the value there? JMU has no business at this level. It's a participation trophy. |

JMU has accomplished the incredible, but yeah, they are not good relative to the blue bloods. They looked bad for most of the game against Troy, and they will be slaughtered in the CFP.
Don’t talk to me about Duke, though. They stink. 5 losses? |

| JMU and Tulane is the perfect example of DEI in the College Football Playoff (CFP). JMU will face the Oregon Duck in Eugene, and I am 100% confident that the Oregon Duck will completely destroy the Dukes. Tulane already lost bad to Ole Miss back in October. There is no reason to think the second time will be any different. JMU and Tulane fit the definition of "participation trophy". |
