Gained 4 lbs in one week

Anonymous
This occurred after losing 14 lbs over 7 weeks, which is not quite 10% of starting weight. Still doing the same stuff eating and exercise wise. So worried I'm about to regain it all!

Is this water weight or actual weight? Any thoughts about why this reversal in weight loss?

I was still wanting to lose about 20 more lbs and my BMI will still be considered overweight.

There are going to be ups and downs. Drink water, eat fiber, and keep going. Weight loss is like investing; you will do better if you just stay steady for the long run instead of tracking the day to day ups and downs.

Are you quite short? If 14 lbs is not quite 10% of the starting weight I am guessing you were about 160. So if you want to lose 34lbs you would be 126, and that is only overweight if you are really tiny. You may want to rethink your goal weight.

For me , that is just PMS. Once my period comes, the weight goes back down. I wouldn’t worry about it. Weight will fluctuate throughout the month.

OP here. I am really short and I'm a few months away from being in menopause so not period weight.

Water weight, maybe you didn't pee/BM.

Weigh yourself at the same time every day (typically after you wake up and use the restroom). Plot the chart and looks at trends over time not just one random number. It could be so many different things.

3-4 pounds is my normal variation depending on where I am in my cycle. Unless you really upped your calorie intake it’s probably just bloat.

I'm sorry to tell you but I suspect your body is gearing up to release one more egg and give menstruation a final try.

Yes, it’s water weight. I’ve started using the Happy Scale app, and really like it. It charts the general trend/moving average of your weight loss so you don’t flip out about the everyday ups and downs.

Now that I’ve been taking a GLP1 I’m weighing myself a lot after not stepping on a scale for years. Yes, I need to stop that. But it’s interesting that I’ve found that my weight can fluctuate 4-5 pounds in a day even.

Weigh yourself again in a few hours or tomorrow.

This exact thing happened to me. Lost 14lbs in about 4 weeks. Then I have bounced around with the next 4lbs for the last 3 weeks. Down 4, up four, down two, up two....

I typically weigh myself on shot day which is only a snapshot of one day...but damn, it is frustrating.

Salt. Carbohydrates. Water weight.

just water weight and normal fluctuation. Think of it this way, to gain 4 lbs of fat in a week you would need to eat an additional 14,000 calories or an EXTRA 2000 calories day. Did you eat that much?
