Let a coworker use my address for a good school pyramid

Anonymous
My coworker lives in Falls Church, where the assigned high school is Justice High School. I live in McLean, which is zoned for Langley High School. She has asked for my permission to use my address so her two children can attend Langley. Since my husband and I are empty nesters, I wouldn’t personally mind, but I’m unsure how the school would verify residency.

Fraud. Say no.

How would this even work? We have to show a deed or lease in aps.

. Indeed.

No, of course not. This is fraud. She has a lot of nerve to ask a co-worker! I have heard of people using grandparents' addresses, but this is next level!

It’s crazy that you are even thinking about committing fraud for a co- worker.

You mean “what do we need to lie about so the school thinks the kids live here?”

You know how people say "don't sh*t where you eat" about dating coworkers? I've always thought that was a bit dramatic.

THIS is a don't sh*t where you eat situation.

Fraud!

You could create a lease and have her pay for access to the school. She would need some proof of address and the lease could do that It is still fraud but it happens in our pyramid.

how is it fraud? who is being defrauded? The resident living inside Justice pyramid is still paying Fairfax County taxes. If they were from another county and should be paying tuition to FCPS, then it would be fraud. There is no fraud in this case.

The fraud happens because the county is missing the taxes of the student's family. You cannot just substitute the resident's taxes for the student's. The county should get both. It's not the county's problem that one doesn't have kids. It is the county's problem that the family with the kid isn't directing some of their taxes to the FCPS.

See what I mean?

Not that I'm going to police who is or isn't committing residency fraud. I live and let live. But I just wanted to explain it.

She has a lot of nerve to ask a coworker to commit fraud on her behalf.

You have nothing to gain and no obligation to do this. I would just say, no, I cannot do this. You do not owe any explanation or apology and you should not give this more thought.
