William & Mary ED

My DC attends out of state prep school and applied ED to W&M. We have no legacy or affiliation with the school other than DC fell in love with the school on the tour. Wants to major in Material Sciences or bio. Weighted GPA 4.10; Unweighted 3.7; ACT 33 & 8 AP’s. What are ED chances?

Well, your school's Naviance is the best indicator. The next is SCHEV and it is not good. W&M's weighted GPA indicates that the 75th percentile for admitted kids this past fall was a 4.53; median was a 4.35, and bottom 25th was a 4.18, so your kid is below the bottom 25th percentile. ACT is better - you kid is at the median. W&M's most recent class had a 34 at the 75th percentile, a 33 at the median, and a 32 at the 25th percentile. Maximum rigor? it looks good. Extraordinary ECs? The requirments for majoring in the sciences is usually higher. best of luck

If your DC is a boy then they are in.

Only 48% submitted and SAT and 14% submitted an ACT, so with double submissions, only about half submit a test score. So your 33 is well above the average.

You are in like Flynn.

You are in. With an ED acceptance rate of 49%, plus your ACT is above the average.

The beauty of ED to William and Mary is that it has one of the highest ED acceptance rates of any of the schools around T50 in US News.

Like a cheat code.

SCHEV median GPAs won't matter for an out of state prep school. A boy paying out of state tuition is in.

No, the ACT is at the median and the GPA below 25th percentile
