| Our daughter is a single mother living in NYC. She does well, but childcare is prohibitively expensive, which limits her from saving effectively for emergencies and retirement. How long will it be before she can climb out from under the crushing burden of childcare? |
| Idk but I’m willing to support a candidate who wants to help. |
| What is her income? She may already qualify. NYC has several programs to help low wage earners. |
| lol. |
| I thought the plan was universal pre k? Not free childcare.... |
| Those were campaign promises but he has to have a way to pay for it. Increased taxes have to go through the governor and she is saying she will not raise them. |
| Don't know about now, but 10-15 years ago--when my kids were small--DC was the highest childcare cost in the country. Where was your concern then? |
Ten years ago our concern was paying for medical school. |
She is not a low wage earner. |
Then, why can’t she save for emergencies? |
How much does she earn and what are her costs? |
| Why did she choose to have children? |
It's possible that DC had the highest childcare cost then, but also back then DC was providing Pre K-3. Still does. Most of the rest of America still doesn't even provide Pre K-4. So at least we have been getting a break there. |
Why does that matter? This is about free child care. She has a child. |
Child care costs. |
