| How much cooking oil do you use? I'm around 16oz a week for only 3 ppl :/ Heavy hand but I roast something everyday. Idk but I can't afford it anymore lol |
|
What are you cooking with that much oil?
Half a gallon of OO will last me months. |
| I don’t think I’ve ever finished a bottle of oil before it went bad. |
| That is a ton. I roast almost everyday and don't get close to it. Get an oil sprayer which will help you cut down -- which you should. |
|
If you’re cooking seven days per week, I use about the same (1.5 oz for 2 adults). I buy the 3L olive oil container from Costco. I mostly sautee rather than roast, and large cuts I put on the grill.
If cost is an issue, would using a crock pot or instapot work instead? |
| I try to use as little as possible. A bottle of ok lasts a year. |
| I haven’t measured weekly but a 1 liter bottle of avocado oil lasts us for months-3 people. |
|
Family of 4 here. I use avocado oil for sauteeing, roasting, and baking- a 25 ounce bottle lasts 2-3 months.
We use good olive oil for dressing or finishing dishes- I would say we also use a 25ish ounce bottle every 3 months. If my math is right, we use just over 4 ounces of oil per week. |
| Yikes. |
|
Use table spoon and measure it.
When I don’t use table spoon to measure I over use it. |
|
That's ridiculous OP. You are just wasting it or getting tons of extra calories.
|
| Oil is unbelievably high in calories so we don’t use much. Maybe 4-5 oz per week. |
Yes, we also roast almost daily and don't come close to this amount of oil use. It sounds like drowning everything so much it wouldnt even roast well... |
| I use a dime-to-a-quarter sized amount in frying pans, which I preheat before using. It's algae oil with a very high heat tolerance. There's simply no reason to use more; it's sufficient to keep my pans nonstick and at that rate I go through very little in a month. |
Your cooking must taste terrible. |
