I cook a lot and am not shy about my fat usage. We are a family of four with two healthy weight adults who work out a ton and two active elementary schoolers.
Our breakfasts and lunches don’t really use oil. Dinners often include roasted vegetables. I’ll use probably 3T for the veggies and maybe a couple more for a marinade or dressing. We cook 4-5 nights per week and eat leftovers or takeout the other nights. At this rate we likely use a maximum of 6 ounces per week. However tonight we are eating crockpot white chicken chili, no oil there. I’m not shy about butter either. I do cook a mix of high calorie and lower calorie for the different needs in our family. We have one underweight kid and one who isn’t overweight but would be if he wasn’t so active. |
Measure out by the tablespoon instead of pouring straight from the bottle. You don’t need that much for roasting and you’re likely using way more than you actually need. |
| Are you confusing roasting with deep frying? I can't imagine using that much oil. |
