Dc is getting a hard push from one school but wants to keep options open.
Whats your experience? |
| Yes, committed. He was all-in after his official visit to Carleton. |
Nice! Congrats!! Must feel good to have the process settled. Dc (and I) would like to get as much merit aid as possible so that’s part of our issue too. Were you able to get merit aid? |
He's thrilled, as are we. Carleton does not offer merit aid. |
| Yes, committed junior fall. Luckily still wants to go 😂 |
That’s awesome!! We know a kid like that. How amazing to be done that early! |
| Yes committed late summer. D2 and they gave their aid package early. All but 1 of his teammates have also committed (couple lower level d1 but mostly d3). Coaches all pushed for early or they were going to give positions away. |
| Mine waited to make really sure it was the right choice-- didn't commit until fall of senior year. It worked out well for them in the end, but it was really hard to see everyone else committing around them. This was a service academy, so money wasn't a factor. |
| If it’s not D1 it’s not committing. |
| It’s very sport dependent too. Soccer is earlier and track is later, for example. |
Did they still have to do nomination process etc? Doesn’t that take them into Dec or Jan? Or were they able to skip it? |
I know track kids who didn’t commit until spring |
Huh? |
Did they have to turn down offers from other schools while they waited for this process? |
Yes. And yes on all the same application process as all other potential students-- nominations, fitness test, interviews, medical tests. |
