I was just thinking about how and if Tina's attitude toward Brandon will change now that a LOT of info is coming out. Do you guys think she knew about him having an affair at the lake house he used for family vacations? That seems like sacred space.
Brandon and Jen, in all the years I have followed them, always, always claim to "do the work" when they do no such thing. They are both delusional. I don't care how much Jen hypes up her Enneagram bs classification sponsored by the number 3. |
| I think Tina is finding out perhaps more than she bargained for, but she has probably had some goofy asshat boyfriends in the past (like many of us) and Brando really isn't the worst guy she's been with. |
| There’s nothing about Brandon that screams good catch to me. The bloated alcoholic face. The motorcycle getup. He seemed like a dud with his first family and to the previous poster’s comment, he doesn’t seem to have done much work on himself. If I was Tina I would have basically told him that if you want to get with me, you have to work on yourself first. Dude coming straight off a divorce because he had an affair is not the dude you want to marry. I’d also imagine she doesn’t trust him to a degree and she always will have to wonder what he’s doing when he’s typing on his phone. He’s sloppy seconds. |
|
When you get past 50, the pickings are slim and the red flags are constant.
I could see Brandon being on his best behavior and Tina letting fantasy emotions sweep her up. But once the honeymoon is over and real life is a shitstorm, those unforgettable nights of drinking become nightmares quick. Things gone unsaid build up. Hurtful barbs slip out. Tina could be the most loyal wonderful woman around but when a man’s feelings go dark, he will screw a pig in mud just to numb the angst. |
The Enneagram is bs too. |
The Enneagram got more mentions than Sass in the book, so maybe the end is nigh? But every time this thread tries to call it, they post a look at how cute we are together! selfie |
Giving Howertons. They do the work. Constantly mention enneagrams. Hate eachother. |
This is a great point. It’s as if she imagines life would be perfect has she been raised in a secular world. |

Awake Week 1 Sales
Awake: A Memoir Jen Hatmaker, Author Avid Reader Press / Simon & Schuster, $30.00 (320) 978-1-6680-8368-0 LAST WEEK: - WEEKS ON LIST: 1 PUB DATE: Sep 2025 UNITS SOLD: 28,905 YTD: 28,905 A little worse than I predicted but not bad. Fierce sold 17,000 its first week so this is a bit of a return to form. Keep in mind that For the Love sold over 300,000 copies so she’s never going to get to those heights again, though. I think Week 2 will be a steep drop off as Jen is a huge front loader who hasn’t had a lot of “legs” since the For The Love/7 days . Total sales after six months might be something like 60,000 to 65,000. |
| Awake grossed around $600k week 1 at a price of around $20 a book. What was her advance, I wonder, and how much was the marketing budget? |
| It's now #118 on the Amazon bestseller list, so well out of the top 100, but it's #1 in the subcategories of Divorce and Women's Biographies, and #2 in Memoirs. |
| Who is this person to have so many pages of posts? |
She was once an extremely popular Christian author who wrote several best selling books for womenin the early to mid 2010s. Then, about a decade ago, she started publicly unraveling her faith and lost a lot of her audience. Her husband had an affair and they divorced in 2020. Now she's primarily an influencer who continues to make a living off of her former but diminished popularity. She has just released a new memoir about her divorce and the aftermath. Google her if you want to know more. |
| Did y'all see Julie Roys' public apology today for breaking the news of the Hatmaker divorce? That was gracious of her. Julie Roys has done an incredible job of exposing predators in the church, and was instrumental in recently bringing forth the stories about DECADES of abuse/rape/etc by Michael Tait of the Newsboys. |
It's not at all difficult to get to know who she is, even without reading through the hundreds of pages of posts. To begin with she an "Enneagram number 3.", which supposedly will help you get to know her on a deep level. Also, she teaches a lot of e-learnings called "me-courses", so check those out. Of course you will have to pay for them, which is another way of getting the full flavor of who she is. Just pick whichever curated aspect of her personality you would like to get to know most, and dive right in! |
