ECNL moving to school year not calendar

MLSN1 Academy = 30 clubs (parents don’t pay)

MLSN1 P2P = 121 clubs (parents pay)

MLSN2 P2P = 200+ clubs (parents pay)

So who is going to decide at MLS Next? Money rules …

What is your point? Are you saying MLSN can’t require its member to be affiliated with their girls league? Parents pay but somehow it’s the leagues and clubs that have all the power.

Is anyone else hearing that? My club and friends at other clubs said they heard the same thing. So GA clubs are leaving for ECNL.

Sounds like this will be a big issue for 26/27.
Not so much for next year but that clubs are being out on notice.

ECNL offered my daughter’s club new RL league for boys and girls if they left GA/MLSN2.

If I own a p2p MLSN, I will pick SY. Staying BY will not bring in more money, but it comes with a lot of uncertainty. Youth soccer is a business, and I love money.

No, that’s not my point, I wasn’t thinking at all on the girls side and GA.

My point is that Academies cannot impose their interest (BY) to the P2P clubs.

The MLSN P2P clubs have a lot to say, mainly with the creation of the massive MLSN2, because P2P clubs put their money
and players.

MLS Academies are Founding Fathers of MLSNext, they are at the pyramid … but they are a minority at the whole MLSN ecosystem.

MLS Academies don’t have teams U12 and below, neither they have teams out of MLSNext.

However, if BY, MLSN P2P must deal with the jump U12-U13, and also organize all their secondary and younger teams (USCS/USYS/AYSO) under SY system.

A nightmare for P2P clubs!

BY Crowds will always find an excuse for MLSN to stay in BY until the shoes drop. Review the past several hundreds of posts, you can find similar arguments before ECNL confirms it will switch to SY.

I’m not arguing what MLSN or GA will go BY/SY. It doesn’t make a difference to me. I would assume they can do whatever they want and clubs would follow along to keep their “elite” status and attract more paying customers.

My question was had anyone else heard of this team up between MLSN/GA and ECNL essentially going to a split where clubs will either be one or the other.

The bottom pays for the top. Academies are bleeding money. There was talks of a big one closing down pre mlsn2

Yes that’s how must clubs operate having teams 2-5 per age group allow team one to let kids play for a discount so team 1 can win and attract more players for all the other teams.

Right this is the point. Hard to imagine a club wanting to stay with MLSN if a BY position is imposed on them by a bunch of clubs that don’t have to manage either teams under U13 or second teams, which gets really complicated in a mostly SY youth system.

This is the reason MLSN hasn’t said anything yet I’m guessing. Because their academies who hold a lot of sway want to say, but their P2P clubs are saying this is insane and impossible.

I’m a little confused with these new MLS next and Tier 2 teams that have left ECNL. If MLS Next and Tier 2 is BY then what do the clubs do for the rest of the club teams that participate in NCSL or some other league is which I’m guessing will be SY? One team in BY and the rest of the teams SY? That sounds very confusing esp from a registraron angle.

Absolutely confusing, you are right.

So many P2P clubs will have their 1st/best team at MLSN2, but the rest of the teams will be playing USCS NPL, USYS, even ECNL-R.

Having 2 different systems (SY and BY) in the same club and age bracket is impossible to handle.
