“Competitive advantage” what do you mean?

Yeah, there is 0 competitive advantage for staying BY. It would be easier/convenient to stay BY. So I'm sure there are those behind the scenes who would prefer to just ignore the change but smarter heads will prevail.

Club owners will not please BY crowd to stay in BY.

The reality is Club owners will do whatever big Daddy MLSN tells them to do. If they said we are switching to our own new city off everyone would just have to deal with it.

Nope, club owners will do whatever the overwhelming majority of parents and kids want them to do (assuming there is consensus), because those are their customers. It the families walk the club is over.

Well, as every Sept-Q4 players and clubs look to use the upcoming switch to their advantage, there WILL be people not happy with the results who in theory might prefer a BY league instead. It's not that complicated -- unless you're saying all the hype around SeptQ1 players switching is just hype.

They were talking about competitive advantage for a club, i.e., that staying BY somehow made it easier to capture market share and better players (in a coming world that will be mostly SY).

Correct. The bread and butter is in those teams and clubs. Imagine you're the director of a medium-sized club that just got MLSN2. Yay! But now 90% of the rest of your club is going to be SY and just a handful of teams are going to be BY at U13. The parents want to keep their teams together (and got to SY showcases, etc) but you suddenly need to break them up for BY teams and trap a bunch of players at U13 and tell them that they have to play 'up' at showcases/tournaments. Sorry, but that ain't happening. They'll just go get ECRL instead. No fuss no muss.

This is 100% the right take. MLN2 can do whatever they want, but if they don't go SY I think clubs will just leave and ECRL will welcome them with open arms.

Exact same situation with mlsnext and ecnl. Better to make BY parents mad once switching from BY to SY than make sept-dec parents mad every year going forward when their kid has to skip u12 to transition from a SY to BY team. If mlsnext does switch from BY to SY it’s a one and done problem. If they don’t they will be dealing with it every year going forward.

MLSNext leadership and the pro academies quite literally don't care about these problems. It's some of the P2P clubs that are worried. I don't see them changing.

If MLS2 does not go to SY, they will either miss out most tournaments or have a miserable result when forced to play up, the ECRL club nearby will eat their lunch.

Club owners are not stupid. They will not please BY crowds. MLS2 is 100% SY. I don't see a reason why p2p MLSN is staying BY. Align to International is just BS. P2P MLSN clubs care more about money.

MLS pro academies are a minority at MLSN1/2.

P2P clubs (not Academies) will pay, fund and sustain the new invent called MLS2.

p2p MLSN pay "franchise fee" to MLS, so they can play 1/2 of league games against MLS Academy team. This is their selling point, together with "path to pro" to scam soccer parents. They have to switch to SY, so they don't give ECNL any difference to damage their business.

BY crowds can use any soccer reasons to still be in illusion that p2p MLSN will stay in BY. But money talks, we will know very soon p2p MLSN will switch to SY in 26/27.

So big rumor around my club and area is that MLSN is going to require clubs to bring girls side into GA. So clubs who are currently MLSN and ECNL will have to switch to GA or join ECNL for boys/Girls.

Is anyone else hearing that? My club and friends at other clubs said they heard the same thing. So GA clubs are leaving for ECNL.

Sounds like this will be a big issue for 26/27.
Not so much for next year but that clubs are being out on notice.

A few clubs in my area are switching from GA to RL not sure if that’s the reason why? Boys also going to NL/RL as well.

MLSN1 Academy = 30 clubs (parents don’t pay)

MLSN1 P2P = 121 clubs (parents pay)

MLSN2 P2P = 200+ clubs (parents pay)

So who is going to decide at MLS Next? Money rules …
