I'll start:
"Get off the floor!" (Why are they always rolling around on the floor?) |
|
Put your clothes *in* the hamper
Eat over your plate Can you say that again louder? I couldn't hear you (just a very soft voice with no projection, it's not her fault but I do want to hear what she's saying!) |
| Be kind |
| Six seveeeen |
You say this *to* your third grader on repeat? Is this reverse psychology? Has your kid stopped saying it because you made it uncool? |
It's a work in progress. It worked on "sus" and I'm employing the technique on "bet" for my 7th grader.
|
Did you ever have to do "Shiiiiiiieee" with your older one? That was 2021. |
| As a third grade teacher, we are working on following directions the first time. If parents could reinforce this at home it would be great. No multiple reminders for basic instructions. “Please put away your reading folder and get out your math folder” should not be the time suck that it is. |
| What op? Rolling on the floor...are you a boy parent? Because wow, this really show gals and guys are quite different. |
"Stop being a wanker." |
My 3rd grade girl is often rolling around on the floor rather than doing what I asked. I don’t think it has anything to do with gender! |
| My third grade girl is still wearing holes in the knees of every pair of pants from playing on the floor. |
YES! —another 3rd grade teacher. |
3rd grade parent here and I hear you but to some extent this is a developmental issue. My kid has become less attentive and responsive to directions this year. It's hormones. She's more emotional, has developed new interests, and her attention is often divided. I have noticed the problem is MUCH more pronounced when she's around friends, so I'm guessing it's especially bad in the classroom. All of which is to say, thank you for the work you do with these kids! But know we are dealing with the same challenging behaviors at home and doing our best. Trust me when I tell you that I also get frustrated about repeating instructions or being ignored. |
DP but same. It's totally reverse psychology, especially with things like "bruh" and stupid slang words. They hear how ridiculous it sounds, they don't use it as much. |
