Peace has finally come to Gaza and it is wonderful aid is finally flowing in.
But the current peace is fragile. And the peace is threatened every day HAMAS refuses to place its weapons beyond use. No one is in favor of an armed HAMAS. Will they finally disarm? And if so, when? |

Trump recently said that he had agreed to allow Hamas to establish security in Gaza. So Hamas will keep its arms with Trump's approval for a while.

| Trump also said they must disarm and if they don’t we will disarm them. |
No Hamas has a right to defend itself. Israel has said they will kill all Hamas no matter what. |
So by "we will disarm them" you and trump are advocating for US boots on the ground in Gaza in open warfare? |
Hamas doesn't seem capable of posing a threat to anyone in Israel right now, though they do seem to be continuing to pose a threat to Gaza residents who don't fall in line behind them. But I don't see any rationale for ending the ceasefire just because Hamas is holding onto its weapons. If the Israeli government can't manage to prevent another attack from Gaza after the last two years, that's on them. |
Interesting. Thanks. Will have to look further into the details, but to me, it would be reasonable for “police” / security forces in Gaza to have maybe handguns, or as is ubiquitous in the region: Kalashnikov carbines. So-called “light arms.” But nothing more. Will HAMAS place its rockets/launchers, anti tank weapons, mortars, explosives, artillery, and grenades beyond use? Or will we be back in the same quagmire a year from now? |
Did I say that, or even suggest that? No; no I did not. |

Next year? israel at this moment is throttling aid and they are continuing sporadic attacks.
Try in less than a month. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cx2r2z0gyp7t |
As for any “boots on the ground,” the only effective model in the region (IMO) is The Multinational Force of Observers, based in The Sinai. They enforce their mandate with their weapons. A credible force with a strong mandate could bring relief to the civilians in Gaza, while hopefully keeping HAMAS and other local designated terrorist organizations, in check. In contrast, we have all seen the failed farce known as the “U.N. Peacekeeping group” (I refuse to call them a force), in Southern Lebanon, who do nothing beyond facilitate Hezbollah’s activities in the area. |
Do you also agree that Israel must also disarm? |
| What do nearby countries say about disarming HAMAS? Also, Hamas is not the same as Palestinian or Gazan. Are we or countries in the region making this distinction? |
The adults are talking, dear. Please sit down and remain silent. |
Good points. Fatah are the rightful and legitimate government of all Palestinian people. HAMAS is a designated terrorist organization, who clearly must disband. No one is talking about Fatah disarming. |
