Boycott our Sinclair affiliate and its advertisers

Our local Sinclair affiliate in the DC area is Channel 7, WJLA.

This instead of the Fox affiliate?

This is the ABC affiliate, owned by Sinclair. "The Sinclair Broadcasting Group, one of two companies that scrubbed their local ABC affiliates of Jimmy Kimmel's show following comments he made in the wake of Charlie Kirk's killing, is demanding an apology.” They want Kimmel to make a donation to Kirk’s group Turning Point USA. See https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/tv/2025/09/18/sinclair-jimmy-kimmel-apology-donation-charlie-kirk/86216034007/.

They’re doing this to curry favor with the FCC, who will rule on whether they can buy more broadcasting stations.

This is nauseating.

Yes, if you want businesses to operate as reflections of your political values instead of as enterprises intended to make money for their shareholders and to provide employment for their employees.

You do realize that if a business fails to make money, it becomes unavailable to provide employment for workers, and it stops paying taxes.

Or maybe you think businesses are actually social services, with profitability being irrelevant.

These people are short-sighted and ignorant. You are giving them far too much credit.

Yes, I want to support businesses that support my political values.

I've been boycotting Sinclair and channel 7 for years: the presenters look like stepford wives and there is always a tone of fear or urgency to their reporting, or with the scrolling news on screen.

Prefer other local channels where newscasters look and behave like actual real people.

Yes, that’s extortion.

I don't think Sinclair is trying to curry favor. They have always been a Far-Right propaganda machine.

Does anyone have a list of their advertisers?

So how has that worked out for you? Are they out of business yet?

The Target boycott has worked pretty well. And far fewer people are driving Teslas.

Boycotting Sinclair won't work. You're wasting your time in thinking that you're doing something.

Your better course of action is to bombard your local congress-person with constituent emails. Show up to his/her events in protest. Make campaign contributions to primary opponents, etc... Political process is the path to success.
