Why did CMC get rid of it's "Silicon Valley" program?

Anonymous
It was a major selling point for my DS. All that's on their website is this:

"Silicon Valley Program 2025 - 2026
The Silicon Valley Program is currently under review and will not be offered during the 2025-2026 academic year. Email SVP staff at svp@cmc.edu for additional information."

https://www.cmc.edu/silicon-valley-program

Are they making other cuts? Is this related to their President resigning? Does anyone know if they've identified a successor for the outgoing President yet?

No but on my kids' tour last year they really talked it up. It used to be that students could intern there during the school year and CMC profs would fly in and teach you during the evening so you didn't miss classes. Seemed very cool but I guess now it's "under review".

Santa Clara University seems like it just integrates internships in SV more seamlessly due to the benefits of his much better location.

Your second statement has nothing to do with the Washington DC program.

Are they making other cuts?
No, they just built a massive integrated sciences building and are actively doubling the footprint of their campus.

Is this related to their President resigning?
No? I’m not even sure how these are related. Chodosh is still the president, and he didn’t resign- he just didn’t renew his contract with the board- he’s been at CMC for twice the amount of time the average US college president stays at a college.

Does anyone know if they've identified a successor for the outgoing President yet?
No? Why would they have? They still have a president until summer 2026- all this information is readily available: https://www.cmc.edu/presidential-search

They haven’t gotten rid of the Silicon Valley program- as you said, they’re reviewing it and they gave you a contact to find more information.

this is a thread about the silicon valley program (which it appears CMC has put on pause indefinitely), not wash dc. santa clara u is in silicon valley so I think that's why the PP is talking about the superior location for internships in silicon valley.

What’s the point of that? The type of student going to cmc for Silicon Valley is not the same as a Santa Clara cs kid.

We did some research on CMC. Apparently Chodosh shared publicly this will be his last year, so while he's still President now, he will leave prior to Fall 2026. They have advertised for a new president but haven't named a successor yet as far as I can tell.

The contact just told me it's on hold indefinitely, not giving any new info so I thought I'd ask this board.

They have no reason to announce a president before Chodosh is gone. Students will interact with the new presidential candidates, but the press release is likely not coming until 2026.

CMC will be fine. Chris’s is lucky to preside over a majority economics institution that tracks students into finance and IB- you constantly have a good alumni pool.

Chodosh, not Chris’s*

Your kid can still go work in Silicon Valley. CMC has a lot of other initiatives pipelines into SV.

Don’t trust this school after their integrated sciences shenanigans.

This sort of program depends on a thriving tech job market. According to CMC's site, they were placing at prestigious big tech companies for a while. One by one, these companies dropped out.

Now that the market has tightened, the college probably struggled to place interns.

Where does it show or say that? CMC ran the program fine with startups and top companies just last year.

They've spent a sh**load of money on a snazzy building and pulled out of the 5Cs shared science program (Keck?) and have created their own interdisciplinary thing called "Integrated Science" where courses are now called Planet, Life, Brain or something like that. It soft launched this year and it's kind of a mess. The students wrote about it in one of the newspapers.
