MLSN has never cared about trapped players and has plenty of players for their limited number of teams. This isn't a concern for them.

This is the new BY truthers statement they’ll hold on to.

I'm interested in this topic but honestly don't care much. I have two young kids on both sides of the SY cutoff, and no ridiculous dreams of college ball or pro for them.

I just find it hilarious that people refuse to acknowledge valid arguments for GA and MLSN to stay BY, as MLSN has always advocated for. I see valid arguments for them to switch to SY too.

We'll see what happens and I won't be surprised either way. But MLSN is one of the reasons USSF punted the age change decision down to different leagues, and allowed flexibility as USSF stated. It's really not that hard to imagine reasons why MLSN would stay BY or change to SY. Yet people still refuse to accept both potential scenarios, lol.

I don't think it had anything to do with what leagues wanted which registration. They just didn't want to get into another mandate situation, to allow reasonable flexibility extends beyond just 26/27 and absolves them from any decision making in the future.

"The MLSN technical director has stated that they have been missing the mark on developing the right players for the NT and MLS teams, I can't see them throwing a curveball to themselves, but who knows."

It makes 0 sense to sit quietly like this unless they are planning some sort of change. Maybe they don't go full SY but surely something is up.

Why wouldn't they announce they're considering a switch to SY, don't know yet, or are switching to SY? Seems like they did announce they're staying BY. And they really don't have to announce anything if they're already on BY and don't plan on changing that.

Its really not that shocking. They've always been advocates for BY. They care about aligning with higher competition like academies and international pro pathways, not aligning with Cal North D teams.

Align with f**king what? Been with MLSN for 2 years, never play against any meaningful International team, except paying 5K to go to Mic cup.

The only bright spot in MLSN is my trapped player has meaningful training & games during HS soccer break, unlike his former ECNL teammates, who had almost nothing for 4 months.

Align with feeding the best players into academies on BY. Aligning with international competition and tournaments with international teams. Their mission is literally to be a pro development pathway. While not every MLSN team and player gets these opportunities, the best players do.

F**king liars. We makes MLSN playoff, there may be 2/3 best players play trash D2/D3 schools and that is it.

MLSN staying BY is possible. But the logistical gymnastics required for 1/3 of all kids to skip their U12 year is MASSIVE and cannot be overestimated. A SY switch is possible but a very heavy lift.

These clubs are lazy. These clubs care about money. Put those two together and they will do what is easiest which fattens the bottom line. I don't see what GA gains by staying birth year and I don't get what MLSN gains by switching. More money on the boys side so I imagine these two will stay BY. Maybe GA adds a bio-band.

Here are my odds:
-200 MLSN stays BY
-150 GA stays BY but adds a bio-band exception.
+120 MLSN2 goes SY and MLSN stays BY
+300 MLS & GA switches to SY

They are just delaying the official SY announcemnt so that everyone starts at the same time and we dont have clubs in overlaping MLSN and ECNL markets jumping the gun.

Recruitment Manager of a local P2P MLSN1 club just told me:

- MLSN2 will be BY 25/26 and will switch to SY 26/27.

- MLSN1 will be BY 25/26 and undecided yet for 26/27 (Academies have strong opposition to switch SY, however P2P clubs push for the switch, otherwise they cannot organize themselves)

BY crowd demands MLSN1 to stay in BY for their Q1/Q2 kids!

This seems like most logical take right now. For the large P2P MLSN clubs, staying BY for just MLSN1 will be a major PITA. Most of them can barely keep it together without this extra headache of trying to manage two different systems.

They announced mls next is staying by

This is BS. They are different orgs. CalSouth is not stupid to make this PR blunder.

I was on the zoom meeting. I was surprised when they announced that MLSN was staying BY. It was literally the only real news that came out of the meeting. FWIW, I am a SY advocate.

"Staying BY" (for now) because the change to SY hasn't happened yet is entirely different than "staying BY" after the upcoming change to SY. No chance they were referring to the latter. That's not how big announcements get made.

You’re an idiot.

“Nothing is changing” is not a big announcement.

Why does it matter if MLSN stays BY? Who cares?

Orrrr…occams razor and all…there is not change and thus nothing to announce?
