Which means they haven't made an announcement yet. Announcement is coming in May after its taken to member organizations and the board |
I have no insider information. But, what was said, more than once is: MLS Next is staying with birth year.
They didn't frame it as MLSN hasn't announced their decision. The statement was very clear. As a SY advocate, and someone following this topic closely, the statement caught me off. |
Why wouldn't MLSN or GA just come out and say, 'hey, we're staying BY for eternity'?
It makes 0 sense to sit quietly like this unless they are planning some sort of change. Maybe they don't go full SY but surely something is up. |
Cal South (USYS) can't make announcements for MLS clubs. They are completely separate. I think what they guy meant was that Cal South has to change - but MLS isn't required to and hasn't said they are (which is true). |
WE LOVE TRAPPED PLAYERS
F 5/12 of our customers!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
What a mess this is going to be to have USYS and most club teams on one system and others on a different |
It does not make any business sense to stay in BY for p2p MLSN clubs, but BY crowds want MLSN to stay in BY at all costs, so they are relieved. |
They are not staying BY or they would have already said so themselves... |
Since when this industry ever done anything logical? MLSN was the reason why US Soccer didn't mandate it. Now we will all have to endure two separate pyramids. Once college sports are killed off for all the non P4 schools, these clubs and leagues are screwed. They know it and want their money while they can still get it. |
Why wouldn't they announce they're considering a switch to SY, don't know yet, or are switching to SY? Seems like they did announce they're staying BY. And they really don't have to announce anything if they're already on BY and don't plan on changing that. Its really not that shocking. They've always been advocates for BY. They care about aligning with higher competition like academies and international pro pathways, not aligning with Cal North D teams. |
The question: “Any info on mls next decision, u12 SY will have to jump to u14 by” The answer: “MLS next is staying by” |
MLSN has never cared about trapped players and has plenty of players for their limited number of teams. This isn't a concern for them. |
Pretty sure whoever answered the question regrets it today. |
Align with f**king what? Been with MLSN for 2 years, never play against any meaningful International team, except paying 5K to go to Mic cup. The only bright spot in MLSN is my trapped player has meaningful training & games during HS soccer break, unlike his former ECNL teammates, who had almost nothing for 4 months. |
As long as kids(parents) want to play MLSN it doesn’t matter what age cutoffs they use. |
