Why has there been a media blackout of this horrific crime?

On August 22, 23 year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska was stabbed from behind in the throat while sitting in a Charlotte rail car/train. Footage of the attack was released on Friday, and it is utterly horrific.

To date, none of the major national media organizations (NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.) have reported on this crime. The attacker, Decarlos Brown, Jr., had a staggering 14 prior arrests. Before she was killed by this man, Iryna had fled Ukraine following the Russian invasion. She was literally safer in a war zone than in a major American city.

How can there be a complaint about MAGA misinformation if this is how the “trusted news sources” behave?

I’m the poster of the Trump at US Open thread, so obviously not a fan.

It doesn’t fit the narrative. You got to call a spade a spade no matter what side it comes from.

Just like the UK Grooming Scandal. Their media would t cover it either. I started a couple threads here to discuss but they were always taken down.

We need to have serious discussions about these issues. It’s going to be very uncomfortable for both sides. Both sides have differing, valid points on these difficult issues. We need leaders who are willing to admit where their side is wrong and the other side’s point is more valid.

We definitely don’t have that currently on the right and unfortunately, we don’t have it in the left either so nothing is going to change.

Unfortunately it is stuff like this that is why there is massive distrust of mainstream media. This is a horrific crime committed against a Ukrainian refugee, and it is shocking that it has been almost entirely ignored by mainstream media.

I say this as someone who hates Trump. But the lack of coverage in this case is notable.

Unfortunately, these types of crime occur so they don't always make it to mass media. I follow Charlotte news and didn't see it. Plus, with so much going on, it's just hard to see everything. I don't think its absence is purposeful.

Why are you politicizing this so you can criticize your version of “trusted news sources “? This sounds like a story that would delight Fox and MAGA. That it hasn’t gotten the attention that you feel it deserves by MAGA either might simply mean that it hasn’t risen from being a local story to a national one. Even you point out that “footage”:was only released Friday. Who released the footage? Funny that you seem more concerned with “misinformation “ than the horrific tragedy. Was that really the point you wanted to make?

x on a bike, unless little kids are getting shot, who cares- young women get stabbed once/month/week. Its pathetic that our government allows people with histories of violence out on the streets but there are so many violent nut jobs on the loose, no-one working in government gives a crap about what is happening to Americans- s o we are supposed to feel extra bad b.c she was from Ukraine?? but if Andy from Charlotte shoots his son and his babymomma no-one is supposed to care, b/c we don't. it happens all the time and doesn't even make the evening news.

A young woman who escaped the war in Ukraine sat down in her seat on the light-rail train heading home after her shift at a restaurant. With no warning, a black man seated behind her who had been arrested 14 times previously, grabbed her head and slit her throat killing her. He walked off the train with blood dripping from the knife.

It was a horrific crime, video exists, and it is absolutely shocking that it hasn’t made the national news. I’m confident that if a white man had done the same to a beautiful young black woman heading home from work on the train, there would be headlines.
