Pot smoking in a Hotel Room

We stayed at a hotel in a state in which pot is legal and people were smoking pot in another room on our floor. The smell was thick in the hallway. It's forbidden in hotels, I assume because it's smoking but it went on every day. We didn't complain, but we didn't appreciate it either. What should we have done? Knock on the door? Call the front desk?

The same thing you'd do if someone was smoking cigarettes or cigars in non-smoking areas. I'd mention it to the staff at the desk.

I wouldn't get involved in a cigarette issue unless it was stinking up my room.

I really don't care if they get kicked and fined. It costs money to get rid of the smell. They’re the idiots smoking in a hotel room when it is clearly not allowed.
Presumably I'm also paying for my room in this situation. and don't want to have the odor forced on me.

Smoking outdoors is completely different.

No decent hotel allows smoking regardless of whether it's pot or cigarettes or anything else in their rooms. OP is justified in wanting to report it. I don't care if you think it's NBD, nor do I care if the smokers are fined hundreds or thousands of dollars. It's explicitly stated in the hotel rules no smoking, same with airlines, so no excuses.
