So how many IB are going to really be at Hardy?

What an idiotic selfish comment

There's a lot of pressure on Bowser not to shift any schools from Deal to Hardy.

Sure. It will be easy to build a top-notch DCPS middle school with 80% or higher OOB enrollment.

Hardy cheer:

We're a distant number two!
We're a distant number two!

Why so mean, people? Why disparage the school? Why not wish it well? We are an inboundary family and hope one day to attend. If it isn't where we want it to be academically, we'll go elsewhere. No need for handwringing or disparaging comments. The animosity towards the school is just bizarre.

Yes, it's bizarre.

Is the animosity coming from families IB that choose private, bc they need to justify the expense?

On the contrary. The animosity seems to be coming from OOB and IB families attending Hardy who resent non-attending IB families who question the caliber of the educational experience and suggest changes that might improve that experience.

Important changes, like getting rid of the uniforms. Suggesting it over and over and over again.

How about a change like capping OOB enrollment so that the school has a reasonable chance of becoming majority IB in the next few years?

If you build it, it will come. Please, start enrolling and that will organically decrease the OOB populace.

Really? Why not just go? If you are IB, no one is stopping you. Stopping OOB enrollment suggests that you think these students are inferior and that you don't want to associate with them. I have no problem with IB families wanting to make use of their neighborhood school, and even wishing that others did too. But saying that you need to remove the OOB students first (which is effectively what a cap does) is a little icky. Sorry.

This post reflect the no-so-hidden agenda of many folks at Hardy. They want IB families to stay away -- except for a token few -- so that the spots are made available in the lottery.

Same-old, same-old, PP. It's OK for Hardy to become predominantly IB, provided IB families can achieve that goal by mounting a grassroots campaign, starting from IB enrollment that is currently at 13%.

This debate will go on for years, PP, and the IB enrollment will barely budge.

At yet I think that IB families have made strides in that direction precisely through the campaign you appear to be deriding.

Really, this again? Said it before and will say it again -- the current Hardy families are not wasting their time thinking about non-attending IB families. You are not the center of their world. They have actual lives to lead.
