If the woman's 5-10 years older than the man, how did it work when she hit her 50s and 60s?

I'm a 42 year old man, dating a woman who's 49. It's getting serious. I'm really into her. She takes care of herself, is in good shape, looks great, and has a high libido. (I think all the same applies to me). But I keep thinking about what will happen in 5 years, 10 years, 15 years. Will she suddenly age quickly, lose her libido, etc., while I'm still fit and active for an extended period? I know eventually I'll be old and have a lower libido, too, and then we'll probably be back in sync, but there will presumably be a lag -- potentially for many years. Have people been through this? How'd it work out?

My mom is 73. She looks mid 50s. Had her last BF at 65-67.

The downside is, most relationships last 2-3 years. Most marriages 7 years.

You will age and die together if you love her.

Don’t be selfish and don’t allow these thoughts ruin your relationship. It’s not a huge age difference.

My husband dumped me when I turned 50 – for someone 35. I was 5 years older. Worked out well for him.

My ex inlaws are 12 years apart with her being the older one. He totally adores his wife, and they make an excellent partnership. She's healthier than he is, despite her being the older of the two. I have no idea what their sex life is like, but like I said, he totally adores her, so I assume he is satisfied with the relationship.

This is really not that big of an age gap.

Won’t work long term. Move on.

From the little we know about you from your post, you value looks, fitness and matching libido. Mutual attraction is def needed for a healthy relationship but do you value anything else? Anything else about her or your relationship? If these are your highest priorities, you will not be happy in 15 years. Don’t waste her time.

I just turned 50. I’m in excellent shape. My libido is intense. I don’t think you need to see doubts if you’re enjoying your relationship.

HRT exists. Many GenX women don’t look like one imagines a 49 year old. We’re dating younger men who have emotions fluency, aren’t as rigid thinkers around gender roles, and having great sex.

Get out of your own way before you lose her. Bc I tell you what we do not do? Put up with nonsense. If she notices you’re waffling she’ll wordlessly choose herself before even notice she’s gone

^^ sew doubts

^^ emotional fluency

If a woman is fit at age 49, she is likely to stay fit for the rest of her life.

I am age 64, my boyfriend is 67, we have regular sex. I do take HRT.

I don’t think that that age gap you mentioned as very big.

I’m the 128 poster

People have regular sex in their 50s. People have regular sex in their 60s and I assume in their 70s etc..

10-year age difference. He's older, I'm the one with serious health issues...

You will be in a much better situation than my friend. She's 50 and her husband is 80. They got married when he was 60 and she was 40. They only had sex for the first 5 years of marriage. He is no longer able to, and her libido fell off the cliff without any practice or initiative on his end

Pardon, she was 30 when they got married. She didn't have sex with husband for many years by now

I mean. You’ll get fat, grow jowls and your d will stop being predictable on the same timeline so I’d hold onto her with both hands!

Maybe you’ll die closer to her vs way before, too. Win win.
