I don't own a microwave and that seems to blow a lot of people's minds, but honestly... I don't need it.

There are a handful of things that can only REALLY effectively be heated up in a microwave (like Factor meals, we found out), but heating things on the stovetop or oven isn't actually all that hard, and usually winds up with a better result. You can definitely heat things very well in a microwave, but it usually requires at least as much care (figuring out the proper time and setting) as it does figuring out how to do it on the stovetop or oven.

Popcorn isn't actually very hard to make on a stovetop (in fact it's super easy and takes like 30 seconds longer than doing it in a microwave)...

We used to have a microwave, we just almost never used it.

What do you think about yours?

Thanks so much for this definitely new information. Who knew that a stove could ALSO warm up things? Blow me over with a feather.

So... do you use your microwave a lot?

Bully for you.

I’ve gone through periods of having one snd not. When I have one, I use it regularly. When I don’t, I eventually forget that whatever I’m heating on the range or in the oven would be a lot easier with the microwave and don’t miss it all that much.

Why don't you just share your experience like the OP asked... do you find the microwave a cooking tool you can't live without?

Feels like the OP hit a nerve.

It's the same way I felt about having an Instapot. When I first got it, it seemed miraculous and then I realized that most of the really cool things it could do involved a fair amount of time and attention (no, you can't actually cook oxtail stew in 20 minutes), and when mine broke I didn't actually mind not having it. Takes up counter space that could be used for something else.

Also don't have an airfryer—isn't it just a convection oven that you have to put on your counter, instead of using the one in your actual oven?

I use mine multiple times a day and don't think too much about how long to put things in for.

Corn - 4 minutes
Reheating chicken - 45 seconds, then flip and 30 seconds
Popcorn - 2 - 2.5 minutes
Rice - 90 seconds
Chinese food - 45 seconds, stir and 30 seconds

I will reheat soup on the stove.

What kind of chicken do you reheat? Chicken is one of the few things that's at least as good cold—fried chicken in particular. It's actually gross reheated (fried chicken).

I'd be SUPER careful reheating rice. I don't FULLY understand the toxin thing, but I don't really want anything to do with reheated rice.

It's the lecturing, smug nature of OPs post that I find very repulsive. She clearly knows what a microwave does. Get real.

Microwaves make food taste worse anyway. I also refuse to own one was we are millionaires.

What makes you think the OP DIDN'T know what a microwave is for? She asked what you like to use for... that's smug?

Feels like she hit a nerve and you're maybe sensitive about your over-use of your microwave?
