The Instant Pot is my extraneous gadget. I don't like cleaning it up. Went back to my decades old slowcooker if the timing for using my oven doesn't logistically work.
Love the mini microwave i have for cooking prep. |

Mine quit working the other day. So instead of cooking my oatmeal in the microwave I'm using a pan (although I fill it with cold water then use the sprayer to clean it up quick). I use rolled oats (not quick) and usually cook it a vintage white pyrex bowl--it's narrow and tall so it doesn't boil over and I eat it out of the same bowl. Main point is less cleanup. I also reheat my coffee a million times by the time I finish it, I use it to heat milk when I make yogurt.
My air fryer quit a few weeks ago. I haven't missed it and I kind of like the extra space but it's so convenient for cooking a couple of chicken thighs or a burrito or roasting peppers. |
| Baked potato in 7 minutes. |
| the problem with people without don’t own microwaves is they feel the need to make it their whole personality and need to tell people they don’t have one at any chance they get. Like this post, for example. |
| I have never needed a microwave. Creating problems that don't exsist!! |
But they taste awful. Not really baked...more like steamed. |
Exactly! |

We use mine several timed a day.
1) DH heats his turkey and cheese lunch sandwich to soften cheese 2) maybe I melt cheese or crackers for my lunch 3) steam dinner vegetables in glass casserole w a little water 4) sometimes heat takeout prepared food from Balduccis DH loves their mashed potato 5) Rarely baked potato because DH doesn't like texture. So we seldom have because it takes too long in oven. |
How do you know someone... is a vegan is a cyclist does crossfit doesn't own a TV Guess we've got a new one to add to the list. |
| i have a chef that makes all meals fresh and i never need a microwave DOES THAT BLOW YOUR MIND |
|
I use mine all the time. Same thing with my double air fryer, instant pot, toaster, electric tea kettle, immersion blender, food processor, and yes, my oven and the actual stove. The microwave and the air fryer are the best in that they are fast and you can cook food without making a giant mess.
And if you're super granola like PP suggests and you have solar panels and cook while the sun is shining you can decarbonize your cooking lol |
Right? It’s like the family without a TV or the family who has never eaten at a McDonald’s. What is the big deal about not having a microwave when you have a kitchen full of other ways to heat food - range, oven, toaster, etc? It’s like saying, I don’t have a roomba, I prefer to push my vaccum myself. Good for you. |
They get to be sanctimonious about their dumb choices like OP did. |

How I feel about air fryers. We were the last humans on earth to get one. Once we finally did and after less than a year with minimal use -- it starting smoking. While the company replaced it under warranty... It's still in the box -- unused. Ehhh. Plus they're big bulky and loud. |
I have never owned a microwave. I think they are for poor people. |
