Dress code enforcement?

Anonymous
Wondering if the dress code is enforced. This is a pretty weak one so bellies and pj bottoms are all ok? Encouraged? Bare midriffs are fair game? Flip flops cool?

Yes. These are not private schools, it's up to you to parent and advise your kids too.

Are you for real? We all have bigger fish to fry. Why wouldn't PJ bottoms be OK?

I went to public school. They used to have much higher standards in the 90s.

No one cares.

I'm old... our shorts had to be knee length and no bare shoulders or "exposed" cleavage.

As a teacher, the only thing I can do is keep my room as cold as possible. Because FCPS is pretty much done with the dress code thing...

Smart! What kind of things have you seen? Not that long ago Loudoun county schools said no spaghetti straps they must be 1 inch thick but exposed stomachs? Well that's ok! Make it make sense.

Well you cared enough to comment now didn't you? 😂

Yes, my neighbors girls (4th and 6th) were wearing dropped/belly baring shirts at the bus stop today and they came home on the bus, so it's clearly not against dress code!

Dress codes target girls. Good luck finding knee length shorts.

Everything in Fairfax county degraded even basic public school dress codes. Its truly sad what it's become around here.

Yikes 4th and 6th graders with their stomachs out? I can't imagine the parental thought process on that!

You can control the temperature in your room? I never know if it’s going to be freezing or hot or humid or any combination of those.

I was just talking to someone about the days when we gave them clothes to change into when they wore something against the code. Now they come in little more than bikinis.

There is always pointing and chanting "hussy" at girls wearing crop tops.

Exposed bellies aren’t okay for school, neither male nor female.

Same holds true for pajamas. The lack of a bare minimum of standards is ridiculous.
