Gaza War, Part 3

Instead of getting manipulated into funding and fighting proxy wars for another nation, we need to focus on our own nation's problems. Priorities.

We are powerless to do anything. America has a weird maternal hand problem where we believe we are the grantors of democracy in the Middle East.

Our Congress makes the laws and our lawmakers serve for 30-40+ years without term limits so how is our government any different than Middle East monarchies?

Our illusion of power are the elections every four years for president who is just a figurehead not a lawmaker. If Biden croaked tomorrow, Congress would still pass funding for wars or whatever .

We really have lots of gall to pretend we can do anything there especially “grant democracy”.

We should mind your own backyard but it’s too late. At this point, we’ve created so much damage , resentment, and hatred with our maternal hand politics that we have to stay in the region to manage security threats and keep an eye on all the bad actors who want vengeance on us and that includes Israel as well. It’s a huge mess .

If they were any serious, they would’ve struck Qatar . But it’s amateur hour with Israel per usual and we have to play the mom getting her kids to stop fighting each other and learn to play nice

Yup. Israel needs adult supervision. Instead, it's probably going to get away with provoking a war with Iran and will manipulate the U.S. to fight it for them. Israel hopes the U.S. will coalesce behind Islamophobia and conveniently forget Israel's genocide in Gaza and its atrocities in the West Bank. It's an unconscionable distraction technique. When are we going to stop being used and exploited by this rotten brat of a nation? I don't want to see Israel get another penny of my taxes.

Gen Z is not going to go to war with Iran for Israel. This generation is different. Even if Iran bombs the Statue of Liberty or White House , they wouldn’t do it. They would probably cheer.

Gen Z is different . They are lazy , cannot fight, extremely cynical about government, and they are the conspiracy generation. It’s the fallout of our government and media manufacturing consent for wars and lying to us during the Gulf War and post-9/11 era . They learned from millennials that boomers love to make money from war

You are correct in saying that Gen Z is not going to die for Israel, which many of them regard as a racist, apartheid, and colonial state.

To call them lazy and "the conspiracy theory generation," though? My kids and their friends, who are in their twenties, work incredibly hard. As for conspiracy theories, perhaps young people are more inclined to see through the conspiracies and access the truth. They are generally better educated than their elders, perhaps smarter, and more likely to request evidence before accepting claims. After the lies we-the-people were told to make us buy into invading the wrong country in March 2003, we should all be suspicious of efforts to drag us into another war.

There are far more racists who say they feel for the Palestinians but "jewish lives are sacred" and these people dont even realize that this is a racist thing to say. Herzl himself regarded the zionist project as a colonial project, you cannot consider yourself truly German and also indigenous to a Middle East your ancestors fled during the reign of Tiberius . These european jews felt that they were being forced out of Europe, so that whole argument falls apart. I agree with Miriam Margolyes's statement. The actions of Israelis- all of the ones who are jewish agree that not one loaf of bread should enter Gaza, 69 percent of Israelis/30 percent are Arab Israelis/ agree with a Middle Ages style blockade- dont jibe with the judaism that I have encountered in my life with its emphasis on empathy and healing the world.

Herzl was an extremist. Actually, many Jews were opposed to him in Europe and didn’t feel forced out of Europe in the 1800s and felt his idea of leaving Europe for Palestine was anti Semitic. They felt culturally and linguistically European and that going to create a colonial settlement in the Middle East would be doing what the anti Semites want.

His movement didn’t gain traction till after WW2/ the Holocaust . That’s when most Jews finally saw the need for Israel , but initially Jews were opposed to Herzls idea about creating an Israel in the Holy Land. They thought Jews were better off in every Middle Eastern country instead of just one .

Interesting. I've always thought the Zionist claim on Palestine due to being "the true indigenous people," based on having ancestors who lived there 2,000 years ago, was incredibly weak. If I were to demand some of "my" ancestral land in Ireland back because Oliver Cromwell stole it almost 400 years ago, I don't think I'd get very far.

Jews lived in Europe for hundreds of years. If a random leader wanted a “Back to Europe” or “Back to Africa” movement for white or black America , I’d imagine despite any injustice or setbacks here. nobody would be enthused to leave life as they know it and learn a whole new language and life a whole new life except for a fringe minority .

An extreme like the pogroms and then the Holocaust changed the world and that’s what made Israel a necessity. After that, there were still Jews who lived in the Middle East who were reluctant to making Aliyah/ relocating to Israel. Right wing ideologues in the region were backed financially by the Us (due to Cold War/anti Soviet/socialist motivations ) and by Israel (Aliyah/ trying to populate Israel to beat Palestines population number) and now the region is what it is today.

In order for Israel to be created and exist, Jews and Palestinians had to be forcibly expelled from their century-long homes.

Are you too dumb to understand that after 5000 years of antisemitism culminating in one massive Holocaust with 6 million Jews dead, they might need some of their homeland back, you know, just in case? Your claim on Ireland is likely not as compelling.

DP what are you going on about? 5,000 years? Homeland? No one is buying your crap anymore. Hell Israelis are refusing to fight and you want to talk about a homeland…lol

What we need to do is stop messing around and put US boots on the ground both in Gaza and against Iran.

Israel has been one of our strongest and most important allies, and they are in a desperate battle with Hamas to prevent the genocide of their people, and Biden sits there and does nothing. The fact our brave service members are not standing side by side with the heroic IDF forces in Gaza as they save the Palestinian people from Hamas is tragic, it’s sick, and Biden’s refusal to act is worthy of impeachment.

The “Zionist” (a term that is incredibly anti-Semitic) claim is not that our right to Israel comes from anyone who lived there 2000 years ago.

Our claim is that the Jewish people have a history of residence in the area that is currently considered to be Israel (as well as the West Bank and Gaza) that stretches back thousands of years. Additionally, outside of periods where the land was under the control of invading nations (Romans, Turks, British, and most recently the Palestinians), the Jewish people have been the governing body of the land. They have a very strong claim, which is why they are recognized as the leaders of modern Israel, not Hamas.

OMG no!

You are absolutely in a very small minority with this opinion!

Just because our treasonous and anti-Semitic current president refuses to respect one of our strongest alliances doesn’t mean we should be silenced.

Frankly, the fact that Biden was not immediately impeached and removed from office as soon as the word “ceasefire” left his mouth for the first time shows just how much this Country’s morals have fallen. Luckily we have less then a year to wait until we will have a true American hero who will support Israel as our president.
