In March, over 150 community members came to a school board meeting to support teachers’ right to “teach Palestine.” At the meeting, several Jewish students and their families also said the lessons were biased, made them or their children feel uncomfortable or at worst, could foster antisemitism. Berkeleyside reviewed the lesson sets in a story published last month that summarized many of the slides.

Some Jewish parents, including Fendel, took issue with what they described as anti-Israel bias in the slides. He said they included examples “of perspectives that Israel is committing atrocities, genocide, terrorism, apartheid, and other similar crimes, but providing no perspectives that Palestinians are committing atrocities, genocide, terrorism, or similar crimes.”

Fendel also said the slides disproportionately include voices of anti-Zionist Jews, who he called “a fringe minority” within the Jewish community, and inappropriately rely on casualty figures by the Gaza Health Ministry, describing these and other issues in a document outlining his concerns about the lesson sets.

Yup. Israel needs adult supervision. Instead, it's probably going to get away with provoking a war with Iran and will manipulate the U.S. to fight it for them. Israel hopes the U.S. will coalesce behind Islamophobia and conveniently forget Israel's genocide in Gaza and its atrocities in the West Bank. It's an unconscionable distraction technique. When are we going to stop being used and exploited by this rotten brat of a nation? I don't want to see Israel get another penny of my taxes.

Gen Z is not going to go to war with Iran for Israel. This generation is different. Even if Iran bombs the Statue of Liberty or White House , they wouldn’t do it. They would probably cheer.

The actions of Israelis- all of the ones who are jewish agree that not one loaf of bread should enter Gaza, 69 percent of Israelis/30 percent are Arab Israelis/ agree with a Middle Ages style blockade- dont jibe with the judaism that I have encountered in my life with its emphasis on empathy and healing the world.

Herzl was an extremist. Actually, many Jews were opposed to him in Europe and didn’t feel forced out of Europe in the 1800s and felt his idea of leaving Europe for Palestine was anti Semitic. They felt culturally and linguistically European and that going to create a colonial settlement in the Middle East would be doing what the anti Semites want.

His movement didn’t gain traction till after WW2/ the Holocaust . That’s when most Jews finally saw the need for Israel , but initially Jews were opposed to Herzls idea about creating an Israel in the Holy Land. They thought Jews were better off in every Middle Eastern country instead of just one .
