Woodley pool suspends member over transgender swimmer.

How is no one talking about this. This is a crazy story.

It was a mixed heat B meet. Dude overreacted and deserved to be suspended.

That is wild.

I would definitely like more info. Based on that interview, I'm tentatively on his side, but I don't trust the Daily Wire and also I'm very put off by him using a bunch of photos of his kids to help make him sympathetic here. Leave your kids out of it, this could expose them to harassment or ostracism at school and in other activities. People are insane on this issue.

I'm a liberal who doesn't think trans girls or women should compete in competitive female sports but these conversations are very hard to have and when I've revealed this opinion to liberal friends, the degree of vitriol I've received (from people I've known for years, who know me to be a reliable liberal/progressive) has been pretty shocking.

Who was the opposing team?

I don't see why it being a B meet matters if the situation was unfair to the girls competing. The kids are still trying to win.

Boys under 10 are not physically stronger than girls the same age (if anything, they tend to be smaller). Even if you have a problem with transgender athletes in teen and adult sports, this was still a non-issue for fairness.

He made a public scene about a child when he could have just taken his grievances to the team reps. Imagine how this child feels? Do you honestly think a 10-year-old is trying to swim with the girls to beat them? This wasn’t some highly competitive meet anyway it was a “mini meet“

I mean we also have no idea of the kid was trans, just the Dad's word. That cis teen girl in Utah got harassed simply for having short hair.

Boys should not be swimming against girls. Full stop. I'm glad he did what he did. I don't care if it's a B meet or not. Mixed gender heats are fine. Allowing a boy to be listed on the posted results sheet of girls is wrong.

How anyone can be a feminist and for women's rights while also supporting a biological male competing against a biological female in any sport is beyond me!

My daughter used to swim with the boys at practice meets for fun and beat all of them until she was almost 12. Agree, this is a non-issue. And also this father could have handled this much differently. Unfortunately, with our current administration people feel emboldened to act this way AND forget this is a child we are talking about.

Because we've seen these same anti trans nuts go after cis girls for not looking girly enough. It becomes rigid gender expression.

Also harassing a young child in a noncompetitive swim meet is totally and completely insane behavior.

It was going to happen at some point. It’s not fair, and parents of girls are going to start calling it out. The dad was right.

We should not be deputizing random men to police the gender of children.

He sure made a huge deal of his role as a swim meet marshal. That job doesn’t include in any way determining who can swim in an event.

If it was a B meet, it wouldn’t be governed by NVSL, but by the referee and the team reps, who were obviously fine with that swimmer. So there is no rules violation.

+1. It immediately becomes "How do you know that child is a boy?" Which very quickly goes to physical inspections, which no one sane would want.
Meanwhile the little girl who looks boyish feels awful about herself.
