Someone I know was detained by ICE earlier this month and has been kept in confinement ever since. He has not committed any crimes and is a great member of society.
Is there any hope that he’ll he released or are they trying to deport everyone they round up? It’s so sad. He has a lawyer but I’m not sure how aggressive they are, and the system is clearly backlogged. |
It’s horrifying what is happening. No one knows. They can’t keep this up though, there simply doesn’t seem to be space |
If he’s here illegally he’ll be removed from the U.S. |
That’s why they are opening concentration camps and asking for $40B in this big billionaire bill. So much money to be made in cruelty. |
The only way to get him released is to mount a huge public campaign and ensure he has legal representation. But ICE is basically a gestapo being run by neo-nazi's on the ground and in the white house, so your guess is as good as anyone's. |
The most important thing is that he’s represented by competent counsel, which it sounds like he is.
I wouldn’t get too hung up on how aggressive you perceive his attorney to be. |
Please let him know that many of us are very sorry. It shouldn't work like this. |
Thank you. I feel so badly for his wife and kids who miss him terribly and are very scared. |
If he came illegally, should br deported, not imprisoned. We need a stricter immigration system, not a bigger prison system. |
He came to the U.S. circa 2004 and he's been a hardworking, rule abiding person here since then. He started a business and has been earning, spending, and paying taxes. He has also followed all immigration steps in hopes of receiving his green card. His kids are U.S. citizens. This is really hard. |
This is the part that so many don't understand. So many people think that if you marry a US citizen, you automatically get a green card. That's not true and not how it works. That process can still take years. And becoming an naturalized citizen can take even longer. I know someone who has been working toward that for 7 years now. |
I can’t believe this is happening on a daily basis. |
We are foreigners who applied for a green card and are waiting a reply from USCIS. We have had a number of visas prior to this, have never been out of status, but we understand it takes only paltry accusations to send us to a detention camp, and then perhaps deportation to a third world country.
I hope your friend is eventually released in good health. A Canadian citizen died in ICE detention last week, one of 13 deaths in 2025. Conditions in some detention centers are horrific: detainees are not receiving adequate food, they're sleeping on the floor, toilet and shower facilities are lacking, and medications and medical care are being denied routinely. I need daily meds. I have a minor child who is a US citizen and who has a chronic disease. I can fully sympathize with humans who are being snatched off the street, whose medical needs go ignored and whose children are left to fend for themselves. The media needs to do a better job of keeping this front and center. |
Did he come legally? |
Were kids born while he had no legal status? Would new changes to birthright make it complicated for them? |
