One thing you would do for an instant lift for someone feeling down on themselves in late 50's?

Will spare you the details but have had a series of unfortunate events lately. Not all bad but definitely some major stress. Then you factor in the natural stage of aging.

Though many say I look young for my age, I don't feel it. I see the fine lines, the beginnings of the dreaded jowls, etc....we have a big family wedding end of June and I desperately need a lift. Both emotionally and physically.

I am not someone to do much- but want to do something for hopefully a "jolt" of some sort. Help!! If you were to do something what would you do?

It's hard to give specific advice without knowing what you are already doing.

1. Do you get Botox? If not, you might have time to get it done and look good for the big event. Botox makes a huge difference in whether or not I get a jumpscare from the mirror.
2. Would you benefit from eyebrow grooming? (threading, dying, etc)
3. Go get a professional bra fitting and buy some new bras and underwear to look better in clothes. If you don't have excellent shape wear for your event yet, buy some.
4. Cut out alcohol if you haven't done so already.
5. How about your hair? Manicure/Pedicure?

I am but a simple woman, one who has a two step beauty routine and uses "stay hydrated" and "wear sunscreen" as her beauty tips. So I think getting a facial sounds pretty fancy.

Also, I never ever get manicures, but maybe you'd like to get one the day before the wedding?

Botox seems like the most obvious answer. Otherwise things like making sure your hair style is modern and works well with your face, that your clothes and bra are stylish and fit well, makeup can help make you look younger, some eyelash filler (not the big fake ones, individual ones that just make your natural ones look a little thicker and darker), facials to help with any puffiness.

Get your hair and makeup done professionally for the wedding. Buy a dress which looks fantastic on you, along with undergarments the make the dress sit smoother on you. You could also cash in on what many of us 50+ yo are into, which is not gaf. It's a huge boost for me.

Lip filler moderately made a huge difference and a good facial to polish your skin

I would get a manicure a few days before the wedding, and get my hair colored and cut the day before the wedding.

I personally think first-time Botox is too much of a risk. I've hated it the two out of three times I've done it. Very hard to find an injector who doesn't overdo it and make you look worse.

Not a lot of time, but clearly you'll feel better if you can look stunning for the wedding -

1. You can de-bloat by limiting salt and sugar from now until the wedding. Eat plenty of rainbow veggies and fruit, cut alcohol and stick to water, get as much sleep as possible, your skin will thank you. If you're anxious, try magnesium glycinate every evening.

2. Face: try some face peels (I like the classic Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta ones) well before the wedding to check they don't make your face red. If you're considering Botox, go to a reputable derm and do it in advance, so your face isn't paralyzed on the day - too little is better than too much. There are plumping gels with hyaluronic acid you can use the day of, under your make-up, to look more fresh, as well as certain eye creams that smooth out fine lines. I would steer clear of fillers, personally, that never ends well.

3. Make-up: go to a fancy make-up counter (I swear by Dior and its Backstage line, it holds up very well yet the foundation looks invisible, they have lipstick that goes the distance, etc) to get your specific tone of make-up and a tutorial on how to apply it. If your skin tone is usually pale and wan, a very useful lesson is the blush: most people don't blend it correctly. There are lip plumpers out there: never used them, but they might make a difference.

4. Dress: have you picked already? Choose something that flatters your figure and hides perceived flaws. Get the right bra, shapewear, whatever you need to make the dress fit nicely.

5. Hands and feet and any other exposed area: scrub, moisturize regularly before the wedding.

6. Hair: You don't need a new haircut, but you need to land on a hairstyle that works for the whole day, and a way to set it, or refresh it easily. If you color your hair, make sure to color again so the roots don't show on the day.
