Are we still doing goodie bags? If so, what goes inside?

10 year old boy party...

I'd prefer to not spend $$$ on this, but I also don't want to give a bag of junk. Ideas?
Thanks!

For sure, kids eat candy.

No. Too many single use plastics. Give them an on-theme notepad or whatever and be done.

Goodie bags are up to you. I do little notebooks, pens or pencils, lollipops, bags of chips or cookies. I've done baseballs, socks on the party theme, stickers. I try not to do the little party stuff.

One time my kid got a $5 gift card to get pastries, but you could do donuts or ice cream too. Kind of fun, and probably cheaper than a million little plastics.

No. Every time my kids come home with a goody bag, 90% of it goes in the trash.

For 10 year old boys I would do a food item preferably related to party activity or theme

By 10 the parties are smaller. I gave the boys some headphones from 5 below and they liked that

My kid has a summer birthday and this is what we've done for a goodie bag in the past:

Pair of sunglasses (I buy in bulk and look for cool shapes and colors I know the kids will actually want to wear)
Small stick of sunscreen (yes it's practical, whatever, no one has ever complained)
Glow in the dark bracelet
Pack of sunflower seeds
One or two snack items, no candy (fruit leather and a bag of fun shaped/colored crackers)

I don't know that these are huge hits but the kids like the sunglasses and the bracelets. I think the parents are glad not to be getting a bag of trash or candy. I've had parents actively thank me for the sunscreen. I don't think anyone ever actually plants the sunflower seeds but whatever. I figure the snacks get eaten on the way home and maybe help with the endorphin crash post-party.

One year we did a pool party and we gave out pool toys instead, that was a good one.

As a parent of a ballplayer I thought you meant roasted sunflower seeds and I was going to congratulate you on picking something my kid would love.

Please no. It’s either plastic garbage or candy. Kids don’t need either. They just had cake.

This was for girls, but we did fuzzy socks, a little spiral notepad, a gel pen, and a lip balm.

Last summer for my son's 8th birthday, he invited 4 kids. He wanted it to be dragon themed, so we put a Wings of Fire paperback in each bag, some dragon stickers and a dragon bookmark. The parents and kids seemed to appreciate it.
