Have to get prescription sunglasses. They are more expensive than regular glasses at WP (and extra $100 for the sunglass tinting). I could order glasses on line for less, but am worried about not trying on frames/getting them fitted and how complicated they would be about returning them if they do not fit. Is it worth paying more for the WP ones? |
I didn’t love my warby Parker glasses. I prefer my Zenni ones. So for me, no. |
I like Warby Parker for regular glasses, but I also get sunglasses from a cheap place. They get less use and I'm more likely to break or lose them. I also care less how they look. My glasses are, essentially, what my face looks like to other people. My sunglasses aren't. |
I love my sunglasses from there. I drop them all the time and have no scratches. |
I had a pair of WP prescription sunglasses for 15 years. They were great. I have recent pairs of regular prescription glasses and they still hold up well (those OG WB were a bit nicer).
I sadly lost them. I have had good luck at Costco optical and The Framery (1800contacts). I bought a pair of Zenni and had motion sickness from how bad the prescription was applied. But that was a decade ago, and PP likes them? Most glasses are made in China so they could all be using same contract manufacturer. |
I have had many pairs of prescription sunglasses from WP and been pleased. My last couple of prescriptions are progressives, which I understand to be harder to do in sunglasses, and they’ve also been good. And you have a 30 day window to return them. |
I know you are asking about the sunglasses in particular but I think Warby Parker is v convenient and good value for my eye care so much so that I forgo vision insurance with my FEHB plan.
I need both reading glasses and distance eye correction (I wear contacts daily). I see the optician at my local Warby Parker every 18 months to 2 years and own 2 pairs of their glasses, which I like. Their contact lens prices are competitive but they are also make it easy to access your RX in your online account so if you want to shop elsewhere you can. |
Yes, Zenni, but you need your pupil distance. Last place you bought glasses will have. Zenni is so cheap, I buy 3 pairs, ok if I only like one. |
You need your pupillary distance for WP too. I just bought a couple pairs back in February and they called me to say my rx was missing it and to go into one of their stores so I could get measured and they'd update my order. |
I liked the look of mine but I think the frame size just wasn't the best fit for my face. |
Just do what I did and get elective cataract surgery. While I need reading glasses now but distance vision is 20/15. No need for any glasses. Saving tens of thousands in the second half of my life. |
Hmm, maybe I got mine on a sale or special at WP, but my prescription sunglasses were $99 there (vs the prescription regular glasses I got there that started at the $99 base but cost extra to get the lenses “thinned” and blue light blocker added (altho even those were still a better price than what I had been paying at My Eye Dr). |
There are free apps that help you with the pupil distance- I use GlassesOn Have bought through lots of different online places (had a rambunctious child who went through 19 pairs in one year - those $20 guarantees from the eye glass stores will fix them exactly one time), and have come to the conclusion that expensive glasses/frames are a complete ripoff. Our entire family now buys glasses and sunglasses online |
Isn’t that expensive surgery? |
I like Warby Parker as PPs have mentioned because of the convenience: I like being able to get them easily adjusted, and it was so easy to return a pair that was causing me vertigo. |
