It's all true

I've been a Christian for pretty much all my life, but as I've gotten older, the more I've come to just really believe that it's just, well, true.

God bless, DCUM, and best wishes on your faith journey.

It's not true.

As I’ve grown older, yes, I’ve also realized it’s all true.

Hm the older I’ve gotten the more obvious it is to me how absurd the idea of religion is.

Rather sweeping statement, OP and PPs. What's true? Do you believe every word in the Bible? Or have you interpreted it and believe your interpretation? Or do you just believe that God exists, but that various churches and denominations each have their own freedom to live their faith, and that churches don't have the last word on God?

I agree with you OP. It’s still kind boggling to me. But yes, it’s true.

Same. I can’t believe how brainwashed I was as a kid.

A PP. Yes the Bible is the inspired word of God. The story of man’s separation from God and ultimate redemption through the sacrifice of Jesus.

Various denominations squabble over semantics.

I hate when atheists overrun this forum with their disbelief. This forum isn’t *for you*

The virgin birth, walking on water, the raising from the dead, the bear that mauled 42 children because they laughed at someone’s baldness…. Is it *all* true, and literally? Or is it more of a feeling that there’s some important truth within all these stories even if every story isn’t factually true?

Genuinely trying to understand your perspective.

I like that as a premise (though for me it feels more metaphorical than literal). Does it bother you that the inspired word of god was written by mortals hundreds of years later?

It’s a lie embellished over the centuries by those in power to control the masses. It discourages curiosity and personal growth in favor of blind faith. Eg., all the simpleton bible thumpers in America.

Religion has been mostly detrimental to humankind: in addition to keeping the masses dumb and delusional, it’s caused too many wars. Just look at Gaza.
