New SEC Telework Thread - no 30 min lunch discussions

does anyone know where we can view the grievance filed by the union and the response by the SEC on telework?

Ask your union rep.

I was wondering if it was something filed publicly that we could follow.

What a futile endeavor. Even if the union wins (unlikely), agency can appeal and delay or just ignore the arb panel. It’ll all be moot by the time it’s resolved in 4 years. But keeping paying those dues for your rockstar union head — you’re better off burning the money.

Troll. You show up all the time saying the same thing.

Are we really going to have 76 more pages of this? I just want to get back to 6itching over raises.

Did the SEC have a big telework culture before COVID? I'm at FDIC and the average employee teleworked one day per week before COVID. We're all full-time back to the office now and while I don't mind it that much, I feel bad for most or my coworkers who have long commutes.

Most people could do 2 days a week. 25% by seniority could do 3+ days a week and one division had no cap on 3+ days per week so many of them did 9 days per pay period. Its been like that for as long as I can remember.

I think we had something called a CBA (or something like that) that outlined employees’ rights and responsibilities concerning telework. Anyone remember that?

I was in the office kitchen the other day and saw an old poster celebrating the union getting everyone 2x a week telework. In 2002. 2002!!! So yes, we were allowed to telework pre covid.

There is still a CBA. There also is currently a dispute between management and the union on how to interpret one provision of the cba.

Is anyone else loving working from home? Finally some freedom back and not being treated like children.

In 3 hours I've gotten done what would have taken about 7 in the office. So yeah. They're being such idiots. People are much more productive when they aren't showing up exhausted from a 45 min commute - and that's us lucky ones who have a fairly easy commute.

I’m not making rash decisions. But the only hope is Union winning the arbitration and management deciding it is time to negotiate.

I know management can appeal and we all have to go in blah blah blah. I’m not saying g they will negotiate. But it is the best chance we’ve got.

If management doesn’t negotiate after a union win in arbitration, I think that’s when I leave. Will starting looking in meantime.

Anyone with me?

That is largely how I feel as well. I think it is possible that the heat on TW dies down by the time a decision is reached and maybe the agency will negotiate something.

I'm also considering going part-time at 30 hours per week and then the two hours of commuting will even out. I would be ok on 75% of my salary and that would cover my commuting time so I wouldn't miss any time with my kids.
