For those that had a TT?
How did it hold up through menopause? It seems nobody escaped the thickening of the menopause midsection—-even celebs. If you had a TT in your 30s/40s and then went through menopause (50s, 60 year olds) did it hold up? Or did you still get some jello midsection ? |
| Everyone I know who has had one (over 10 women) has immediately gained 20lbs 2 years later and that's that. |
| Mine has held great but I’m only in peri. However, I did have two pregnancies after having the tummy tuck and it held up beautifully. I have gained a little in my midsection with peri but it went to my hips and thighs. My stomach is still very flat. |
| I had lipo not a tummy tuck but like a PP said, I gained 20 lbs within 6 months of the surgery. It happened very quickly- before surgery I could always trust my hunger cues but they apparently went wild shortly after and the weight gain happened before I even realized it. |
| What about a tummy tuck or lipo would cause people to gain weight? |
They've shown that the body will grow fat cells in other areas to compensate for the lost ones |
I don’t understand this at all. Why would they all gain weight 2 years later? This makes no sense. |
I didn’t have lipo but haven’t gained anything since my tummy tuck. I don’t think I had much fat removed as I was slender, just muscle repair and skin removal. I’m 15 years out. |
It’s called lipo and tummy tucks don’t cure poor lifestyle and eating habits. I assure you none of these women were in the gym or eating well. I had a tummy tuck and lipo 12 years ago and my body still looks great, but I workout and I eat clean. These are magic solutions. Either you do the work or plan on annual tune ups to keep up with your terrible habits |
This is not true. One doesn’t “grow new fat cells.” |
You should probably tone down your superiority complex, since you needed lipo and a tummy tuck. In other words, less lecturing people about “doing the work.” |

20 pounds doesn’t ruin a tummy tuck (I am the person who had mine hold through subsequent preganancies and I can guarantee my stomach expanded more than a 20 lbs weight gain would cause). It is true you should be at an optimal weight and sustain it but I don’t believe you know all these people that gained 20 lbs and ruined them. |
| I got my tummy tuck at 47 pre menopause. I'm now 56 and my tummy it's as flat as ever. Been in the throws of menopause since I was 50. |
