Chilean Tourist Grabbed By NYPD Leaving Her Child Alone In NYC's Mean Streets

Anonymous
I saw this story on Reddit, but there are additional accounts online. I'm not sure if journalistic media has reported this incident. It's so unbelievable I wonder if this is AI.

A Chilean woman and her child were spending the day in NYC's Times Square when they were knocked down by people fleeing from the NYPD. She cried for help in Spanish, as she is a tourist and speaks no English. At least one account describes her as a legal resident, so who knows if she lives in the U.S. or is a tourist. The NYPD meatheads, realizing she spoke in Spanish, immediately grabbed her and hustled her to a waiting unmarked sedan, leaving her child behind. She asked in Spanish why she was getting manhandled. Once she realized the intent was to haul her away, as they dragged her towards the waiting sedan, she began screaming in Spanish for her child. A concerned man took the child under his wing. What if he had been a predator instead of a kindly man? The kindly man was able to convince the cops to take the child as well, but initially they refused to listen to him. Watch the videos for yourself. The idiot cops almost left a young female child by herself on the mean streets of the meanest city in the United States. I'm okay with ICE detaining illegal aliens, but grabbing a woman merely because she speaks Spanish, and unconcerned about leaving her preteen daughter to fend for herself? WOW.

Here is some footage I found online:

Have you ever been to NYC, OP? I was just there yesterday, not far from where this video was taken (and on the same day). NYC is a city where many, many languages are regularly spoken and it's considered normal. I heard and indeed, spoke myself, foreign languages within earshot of NYPD. I was not questioned or detained.

I don't want to call you a complete idiot for believing a woman was arrested for speaking Spanish at Times Square. Nor would I suggest that people share their impressions of your reasoning ability or general worldliness. But I would suggest that you spend some time in a major city.

Apparently they thought she was one of the suspects who was fleeing (no idea how many suspects or what they had allegedly done).

Per the OP, the NYPD "meatheads" go around arresting spanish speakers in Times Sq bc they don't understand the concept of a tourist or an immigrant. In NYC, one of the most international cities in the world. And the first two replies cheered her on. WTF. I don't want to say this forum is populated by lobotomized, slobbering imbeciles because that sounds so harsh. Yet.

If you mean that OP fell for an internet hoax, just say so. But the story is that a tourist was rapidly detained by the police such that she was separated from her child, and the police at first would not listen to her pleas about the child being left behind.

Maybe this story is true, maybe it's not, but I HAVE lived and spent time in multiple capital cities of this world, and I can well believe that a stressed out police force would not listen to a detainee.

I believe that the cops didnt realize that there was a child involved. That makes sense and I'm sure thats a regular occurrence. But to believe that someone was arrested *for speaking Spanish,* you have to be a Grade A, prime cut, well marbled moron.

Lady, not gonna get into an insulting contest with ya, but reading comprehension is your friend.

Go to Reddit to see the video for yourself. Come back and tell us your thoughts on this tourist getting separated from her young daughter. No excuses for leaving a young girl behind. The woman's screams of horror are ear splitting.

There’s a video of a black man telling the cops that the girl standing next to him is her daughter. They all heard it. The mom looks at her, and hesitates getting in the car like it may change something. But, it does not.

Then a legitimate liberal news source will pick it up eventually and report it with outrage. Until then, I’ll wait.

That’s not gonna get clicks like Biden, Biden, Biden. I think abandoning mainstream news rn is smart. You do know that the admin is leaking mostly to independent journalists rn. Do you see any of these papers writing about the urgency we’re faced with now? I don’t.
