PSA: Contracts are still being DOGEd

Anonymous
I thought with the removal of Elon, all the DOGE-ing would be done with, but nope. They're still cutting contracts. So now with no Feds and no Contractors, a lot of things are not going to get done. Period.

Doge is definitely not gone. Elon might me.

Elon isn’t gone, either.

FY 2026 is going to be a bloodbath.

Will there be more VERA offers?

No, the reconcile bill cannot include cuts to federal staffing level (and neither can the current CR). The only way to do that would be a regular budget bill, including compromise with Dems. Which will never happen.

Reconciliation bill

Good. The Government spends far too much money on useless activities.

This is very naive. It can happen but you just cannot imagine how. But it can and it will.

Ya my husband's contract was just doged

The research on my kids medical condition is stopping.

Waiting over six months for someone to fix a problem with our health insurance (retired military) and i guess everyone doged there too so no one to help us.

Can't wait to see where we are in year.

And now the side of "less government" is selling all our personal data to Palantir.

Where are the real republicans. Just a bunch of MAGA fools now

Yes, contracts are still being cancelled left and right. My guess the admin and the heads of agencies will do what they can to starve the agencies. Even if people can't be laid off (for now) they'll just cancel programs and projects so employees will have little to do.

T will go back to congress to get DOE abolished, that will happen pretty sure, because pretty much every GOP will be on board with ending the DOE. Do expect layoffs to resume at some point as once the big and beautiful bill is passed they'll turn attention to other bills.

I just don’t understand how much pleasure people are taking in people’s livelihoods getting demolished and critical services and research being obliterated. DOGE has canceled contracts it has no idea what they do only to have to turn around and reverse things. Sledgehammer.

I am personally hoping that once the political get in more fully — the ADSes and the like — they’ll want to actually do something other than slash and burn. Guess what? That takes people and contracts to do.

There are way different rules for contracts versus fed employees and they are realizing it’s much easier to cancel contracts than completing RIFs.

It's going to be a very interesting hurricane season. They have completely devastated FEMA's ability to do much of anything.
