What a sad thing to spend your time hoping for.

They are obsessed with hatred. Maybe Alec took their parking space or didn't tip them enough. Very odd.

DP. No, it is the fact that he willfully violated the safety rules (accepting a gun from someone who wasn't the armorer, aimed the gun in the direction of people, and FIRED the damn gun) that has us upset. And then he jaunts off to Vermont for a little family vacation. He is disgusting and he deserves to go to jail. I also hope that the family of the deceased and the people who were injured by the shots go after him in civil court and take him to the cleaners.

I'm sure you're equally disgusted at the director and cinematographer, too, for trusting the armorer to do her job and for instructing Baldwin to point w gun in their general direction. Right?

No. I remain disgusted at Alec Baldwin, who was HOLDING THE GUN and PULLED THE TRIGGER. HE IS COMPLETELY RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ACTS, even though he won't take responsibility for his acts.

It is remarkably apt and pathetic, and absolutely in keeping with his lack of character, that he is claiming it wasn't his fault.

I admit I have never liked him. We have known him socially since the 90s. While I am (well, was, because I will not ever be civil to him again) civil when we were in social circles, I would never allow him to cross a foot into our home or to one of our parties. I have friends who told their female staff members that they were NEVER EVER to be trapped alone with him because he was such a sleazeball. That was good advice then and probably good advice now. He hasn't improved any obviously.

The people he shot and the family of the young woman he killed should sue him for every penny he has. If they set up a Go Fund Me then my husband and I will contribute for that purpose. He should not be allowed out in society.

I'm glad you don't know me...

Actually I think the PP is probably on point. Alec comes off as the one who is unhinged. With all his public acts of rage and marrying someone who is essentially a con artist yea I am apt to believe the poster.

I think people are just really tired of this horrible man living like he doesn't have a care in the world. He is a rotten person. You don't have to dislike him to know that.

Agree. He’s shows himself to be rotten and ppl are ready to forget him. But then he goes off and kills someone (by accident [as if that somehow makes it better. It certainly doesn’t bring anyone back to life.]). Dear Lord how awful can one get.

Wow. That makes this horrible tragedy even worse somehow. Why on earth was he holding and shooting the gun??? OMG.

No idea but that article also says that lawsuit sites that “The suit also claims the target practice that was going on shortly before the tragedy was "outrageous."”

So it sounds like on this set they decided to have target practice with loaded guns that coincided with the rehearsing of scenes with guns? This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Makes me nervous just to think about it. And clearly disaster did happen.

I’ve been confused by some of the things people are saying about Baldwin, here and on Twitter, and the comparisons they’re making. Then today I read an article about how Conservative Twitter is turning this into a political issue, and everything finally made more sense.

To make enormous generalizations, right wingers seem more likely to either support or attack a famous figure based on which side that person is on politically. I won’t say left wingers never consider politics when they choose their general likes and dislikes, but in specific situations they’re more likely to look at specific facts. Context over politics.

Here, a lot of lefties are saying “I don’t like Alec Baldwin.” People who lean left politically, especially women, often have intense objections when rich men with anger issues bully others without facing consequences. (I’m not calling the shooting “bullying,” I’m talking about his well-known history before.) I loved 30 Rock, and Baldwin and I share a general political leaning. Neither of those things puts me on AB’s “side” here. I didn’t like him before, and aside from some human sympathy for anyone in such an awful situation, I still don’t like him now.

Meanwhile, a few posters here seem to expect all progressives to support Baldwin and then accuse anyone who doesn’t of harboring unnatural personal vendettas. But most of us aren’t approaching all this from a political frame. Personally, I don’t even see Baldwin as a political figure. He’s just an actor, like hundreds of other famous actors. And either way, politics, power, and fame might play into who gets charged with a crime here (ideally they don’t matter to justice, but let’s be realistic), but they have nothing to do with movie production procedures, gun safety, or factual questions of legal liability.

/end PSA that no one asked for.

+100000. Alec is a terrible liberal and a minor nuisance to conservatives. I think he plays up the concept that people dislike him for political reasons because it's easier than acknowledging that people dislike him because he is violent, screams homophobic slurs, attacked Weinstein's victims while defending Weinstein, and has regressive views about virtually everything. He's not some liberal hero. And for conservatives-- well he played Trump on TV. No one hated Dana Carvey for playing Bush. Or any SNL actor; ever, for playing any political figure. And Alec wants us to believe that people hate him because he played Trump. I mean, he basically is Trump.

Anonymous wrote:Has anyone seen any explanation about why the guns were sitting on a table for the AD to grab with the armorer apparently not even there? Was the armorer specifically told to break procedure this way? Or did she wander off to take a smoke break and leave the guns unattended? That is sort of the weirdest part to me. My understanding is that all guns are supposed to be under the constant supervision of the armorer or under lock and key, so her sabotage story doesn’t make a lot of sense unless either she neglected her duties or she was instructed not to perform her regular duties (in which case she probably should have filed an OSHA or union complaint but maybe that’s why they hired an armorer who was living in a ramshackle rental and couldn’t afford to complain).

Don't be silly. She wasn't suppose to bird watch the prop guns. No one thought there was a live round, and this was the procedure on many sets.

That is literally her job.

Exactly. She was young, inexperienced, and poor. She would have probably given in to any pressure from the crew to "relax" any standards. Not the same industry, but I've definitely lived this.

are you referring to the reports that some of the crew had been taking the guns out to "plink"?

He's simply going for the money grab. There will be quite a few lawsuits related to this.

Most interesting was his comments on safety, and I thought the armorer should be able to spot a live round versus a dummy.
