High school students crash near the Pentagon

Anonymous
Extremely sad news is not even the way to begin this. Three students were in an accident near the Pentagon, their BMW hit a Lexus. Two did not survive. I am hearing these are students from a Fairfax county high School. This is beyond tragic.

Again and again.

HS students die in car crashes during this time of the year.

In summer - kids drown in pools and infants and dogs roast in closed cars.

Why are we letting this happen?

which high school were they from? Incredibly sad

Is there a rule about how many teenagers can be in a car? The common theme I see is that in these fatal crashes there are many teenagers in one car. It's so hard driving here to begin with I cannot imagine being a new driver with all of the distractions around you in the car, and then trying to navigate everything outside.

I have no first hand knowledge of this whatsoever but I'm seeing online that people are saying South county. Again I have no confirmation of this but that is what I have been reading. This is so sad and awful. What can we do to protect our kids when they start driving?

I also heard it was South County students and that the driver was known to be a fast driver.

if this is a new driver- they shouldn't have had two friends in the car. start with enforcing those rules at home. I know several 16 year olds whose parents think this rule "is silly," and my daughter gets mad when I don't let her pile in a friends mini-van with 5 other kids.

You are liable as a parent now if they get caught. You will get ticketed. ALL parents have to go to an in person driving session with their child and sign off on this.

Don’t give teens BMWs or similar. This tale keeps getting repeated with tragic results. At least this time they hurt themselves and not innocent teens walking down a sidewalk.

Yes.

In Virginia, until they are 18, teen drivers can only have 1 non related passenger in the car, except for driving to and from school

I was just thinking about that and it was another teen boy in a BMW. I know kids can do damage with any vehicle but why would you let a teen drive a performance car?

Why would you be so cruel to post this? We aren't letting it happen. Accidents happen. Your comparisons are non-sense. This is horrible and tragic.
