Why is this so cheap? Arlington

This seems like a good area, but i don’t know it well. Is this a really busy road or commercial area or something?

I’m in the middle of a divorce and trying to figure out a reasonable cost of living here. I’m using to seeing houses in Alexandria that are around $1 million to $1.2 and are tiny unrenovated 3 br/2ba homes. Is Arlington more affordable or is this an anomaly because of location or a hideous front?

It’s very dated but not horrible. Go check it out if you like it.

It's because of the neighborhood.

I have to laugh at the listing description ending with “and the DC Wharf is a quick 10 min drive as well!”

This is a weird one, looks like they’ve been trying to sell it since 2021 with a series of price drops (and one price increase?!) over the past few years.

Plus the listing facts say 900 feet which is clearly an error.

Check out houses for sale in 22205. So many nice ones for sale right now and great schools.

Not a good area and hideous. Schools are awful.

Looks like they had parking for 6 families.
Do you mind the occasional murder or shooting?

As someone who used to live over there petty crime was rampant, schools sucked, and weirdly enough it smelled weird. Honestly if south Arlington is the best you can do I would go to a higher end section of Alexandria and send kids to private school with the savings if needed.

Weirdly large driveways are common in south Arlington though I could never find out why.

This is the most WTF comment I've ever read on the Real Estate branch. Comparing S Arlington to Old Town, Rosemont or Del Ray is laughable. And the east end ACPS schools are atmospheres better that the gang infested S. Arlington schools.

DP. Those Alexandria neighborhoods are quite posh with top notch public schools, although the middle school that serves those communities gets a bad rap.

The house looks awkward and is just not in the most attractive South Arlington neighborhood. Arlington Ridge, also in South Arlington, is beautiful and has excellent public schools.

Not cheap and very dated, needs work.

The answer to any price, high or low, is location, location, location.

This looks terrible. I don't know why people are fussing about the schools, though. The middle and high school are good/fine. I'm not very familiar with Randolph.

By "looks terrible" I mean the outside of the house is really unattractive.
